🪶 National Indigenous Peoples Day | Honouring Treaty 6 and Beyond 🪶
Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we honour the sacred traditions, deep resilience, and living cultures of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples across Turtle Island.
Source of Strength Healing is located on Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Dene, and Métis Nation of Alberta – Region 4. We respectfully acknowledge the ancestors and knowledge-keepers who have walked these lands for generations — and who continue to lead the way in healing and cultural resurgence.
As a counselling and healing space, we recognize that the impacts of colonization, residential schools, and systemic displacement continue to affect Indigenous individuals, families, and communities today. We hold space for both the deep grief and the powerful reclamation unfolding across Nations.
We commit to practicing in a way that is trauma-informed, heart-led, and grounded in respect. Our work is shaped by the Treaties of Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and British Columbia — not as historical documents, but as living agreements rooted in relationship, responsibility, and reciprocity.
To the Indigenous Peoples of these lands:
🌿 We see you.
🌿 We honour your truths.
🌿 We are grateful for your teachings, your languages, your ceremonies, and your strength.
May today be one of reverence, remembrance, and renewed commitment to walking forward in good ways.
