Candace Baker, Certified Athletic Therapist

Candace Baker, Certified Athletic Therapist Athletic therapy is used to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries/ailments. I will work with you in a relaxed, come-as-you-are environment.

I am a Certified Athletic Therapist, or CAT(C), in Drayton Valley, AB. My goal is to make you feel and move better, closer to the way your body was meant to move. Through our assessment and subsequent therapy sessions, we will work together to achieve pain-free movement, and ideally you will end up learning ways to prevent pain and promote movement. My treatment style is very hands on, with many m

anual therapy techniques. I also give all of my clients 'homework' - exercises to correct or prevent their current and future injuries that they can do at home or at the gym. I encourage individuals to follow an active lifestyle in whatever way they choose. I personally am a fan of slow pitch, CrossFit, yoga, running, weight lifting, snowboarding, wake boarding, wake surfing, and trying new activities regularly! Late post…

I’m re-certified!!!

I put this off for a few months, not sure if I needed to keep this credential, but I decided it is a worthy tool to help my clients on their health journey.

The majority of ailments we have can be helped (or potentially solved) by good nutrition.

Am I a nutritionist? Absolutely not. I’m also NOT a registered dietitian.

I am someone who can help you get on the right track. I am someone who can offer advice in regards to your nutrition habits. I am someone who can support you in all of the ups and downs that come with figuring out how to feed yourself well and live a balanced life.

As always, please reach out if you have questions!!!

"Today might be the best chance you have to take action.

The longer you wait, the more deeply embedded you get in your current lifestyle. Your habits solidify. Your beliefs harden. You get comfortable.

It will never be easy, but it may also never be easier than it is right now." James Clear (the guy who wrote Atomic Habits)

This quote hit hard today.

I hope it helps you too!

Huge news!!!!!

Through months (years) of dedicated work by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association soon (I'm not sure how soon) I'll be able to direct bill for any clients who have coverage for athletic therapy, if their insurance company uses TELUS Health eClaims!

This means you won't have to remember to submit your receipts!!!

If you don't have coverage for AT, please contact your plan administrator and ask to get it added! If you need a letter that might help, let me know and I can send you one.

Yay! Happy National Athletic Therapy Month!

Hello!

I have a favour to ask of you.

If you have received any athletic therapy treatment, whether from myself or another AT, and you feel it is a beneficial paramedical service, please fill out the attached form. We, ATs across Canada, are trying to get more insurance companies to add athletic therapy to the extended health benefits plans that they offer so that our clients don't have to jump through hoops to access coverage.

If you've already filled this out (I think I've posted it before) then thank you so much for your support!!

Please click the link to complete this form.

Hey! Long time no post!

I've been MIA, mostly because I'm not sure what to post about. However, I came across this link in a CATA newsletter and wanted to share it.

If you have had any positive experiences with me or other athletic therapists and are willing to share your experience (it can be anonymous), please click the link below and then fill out the form!

This will (hopefully) help my profession grow and also help to educate the public a bit more about how athletic therapy can be part of everyone's lives!

Thank you in advance!!!

Hey everyone!
If you DON'T have athletic therapy coverage on your extended health benefits plan, do me/my colleagues/yourself a favour and click on this link, then scroll to the bottom and follow the instructions! Let's spread the word that people want to be (or at least have the option to be) treated by an Certified Athletic Therapist such as myself!

Move Freely. Live Fully. Move Freely. Live Fully. Move Freely. Live Fully. Did you know that nearly half (47%) of Canadians have been injured in a way that prevents them from being fully functional at work, home or play? According to a recent Ipsos survey, Canadians are nearly unanimous

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if your injury/pain hasn’t improved after a month, you need to see someone! The body can do amazing things when it comes to tissue healing, but if it’s not given the right tools, such as better positioning, improved nutrition, hydration, etc., it can only do so much.

Reach out if you’re the person who needed to hear this! If I can’t help I can point you in the right direction!
