I almost fed into it. It was a rough night with my daughter waking up from teething and so sleep was a priority this morning. By the time I got to working out I looked at the clock and thought “what’s the point? I will likely get 5 minutes into it and someone (one of the kids) will wake up”. Does that sound like you? It is so easy to put our thoughts into this all or nothing thinking. I had to remind myself that 5 or 10 minutes devoted to me and my self care was better than nothing and so I did it. I worked past the thought and did a workout. I ended up being able to get my whole workout in.
To combat this thinking, we need to compare any effort to zero. Is my attempt or effort better than zero? If yes, then it’s good enough for the season you are in.
If you haven’t grabbed my book Stress Less and Weigh Less yet, we talk about strategies like this to help overcome stress, stress thoughts, and the barrier they can pose on weight loss journeys. I invite you to grab your copy on Amazon before the end of June (in July prices increase).
