Next month is bringing some ✨ BIG CHANGES ✨ for us, friends!

I am cutting way back on massage services here in Dryden to begin offering more Women’s Retreats/Circles and to develop my 1:1 services around NWO.

I am very excited to share that I will be moving my home base to Thunder Bay as of October 1! This will allow me more stimulation and connection personally, while continuing to grow my mission around the region in ways that are aligned with my heart. ♥️

The Community in Dryden is beyond precious to me and this is definitely not a good-bye...

I will be back in my Dryden office for 3 days every second week to keep seeing my closest clients. If you are someone I’ve worked with in the past but have not been alerted to this change yet, you will no longer find availability listed on my online booking system. You can however, message me privately to be put on a list to be told of any openings I may have closer to my days in town.

You’ll also still see me working with some of the amazing local organizations I’ve been blessed to be growing alongside in recent years. As well as at the Lutheran Church (every second Thursday - with more details to come) gathering on the mat with the beautiful Women I’ve come to know and share Yoga with, since my return to NWO 8 years ago!

This step is a testament to my need and commitment to always be evolving. My core mission is to support Women to come back to their truest selves and I am all in on this journey alongside you all!

🌷 What better day than Spring Equinox to share this with you All?🌷

Since closing the Awakened Roots storefront and production op, I’ve had it in mind to do a little rebrand and today is the day!

Since making that big change and closing the physical space, I’ve been working as sincerely as ever to promote health and connection in NWO. Working 1-1 with so many of you, hosting workshops, organizing retreats, offering online courses, and creating unique programming for organizations within our Communities.

I’m ever evolving as an individual and my Business has always reflected that. It’s always been me, committed first and foremost to my own healing and growth, and then in turn - sharing what I acquire with anyone who is sincerely interested.

Today, to better reflect where we’re at and where we’re going, the Awakened Roots name is getting a well earned retirement as we transition to 💚 JOURNEY WITH JENS 💚

I’ve had many nicknames in my life, Jens being the one given to me by the crew I’ve studied with over the past decade. It speaks to a version of me that is Compassionate, Creative, Deeply Connected and (maybe more than) a little bit Bold. ❤️‍🔥

It takes a lot to put your heart and soul out there for others to look at, but for me it’s always felt more like a calling to heed, rather than a concious choice.

Now it’s time to go deeper, to be more authentic, to stand in courage and unite in what’s real and true. Some of the ideas/visions coming from within me lately are unlike anything I’ve yet to see ‘out there’ and will be excited to share when ready.

If you’ve followed along the journey this far and benefitted in some way - I thank you, deeply. And I know those who are meant to, will stick around, and we’ll carry on together... 🙏🏻

We have more control over the direction of our lives than we could ever realize. Over the amount of joy, connection and purpose we experience each day. But until we step back a bit and reflect, our deeper programming will keep running the show, with us, mostly unaware.
 
It’s the mind’s job to keep us safe and that often means keeping us in familiar territory, even if what we’re doing isn’t working for us. So we stay carrying out familiar patterns, thinking similar thoughts and not seeing the changes we long for.
 
My work since closing the storefront has been based in supporting Women to calm and steady their systems so that together, we can find our hearts again. To quiet down the mind enough and listen for the wisdom of the soul. And to find support in one another and courageously step forward, one foot at a time, into new and brighter ways of being…
 
 
✨ NEW PATHWAYS✨ is about grounding our nervous systems and opening new neural pathways in a supportive, fun and effective way. This program will be for all Women, regardless of experience with meditation or understanding of your mind/nervous system. Let’s start together...
 
Over four weeks, with four unique themes, we’ll share -
 
-       Beautiful, daily meditations to set the tone of your day.
-       Special intention/affirmation to anchor you and start to create new, positive pathways within the mind.
-       Fun and unique activity designed to engage and shake up the senses. With reflection questions to get you thinking and possibly revealing things about yourself you didn’t know.
-       Supportive, private FB Group to share resources and tips on healing and rewiring the nervous system.
-       I’ll go live in the Group every Sunday at 9am (starting Feb. 9th) to discuss the week prior and share a 20 minute movement and meditation practice. Tune in live or catch the recording.
-       Special opportunity to work with me 1-1 following the program to create a personalized practice based on what reveals that you may want to give more focus to.

✨ Courage, Faith & Flowing Water ✨ (three of my very fave things)

Last night as I was falling asleep I had a random thought to let the Divine lead my day today. I knew I wanted to visit the nearby Nauyaca falls. And solo adventuring always gives me butterflies leading up 🦋

Would I find my way? What would it be like? I also always worry about animals… ☠️

I woke up easily with my alarm and made it to the park just minutes after it opened. On the 4km hike in, I saw just one other Woman. Uphill and hot (even at 7am), I had zero complaints, not a fearful thought in my mind, just ease. So much so that I was making up songs, singing aloud by the time I could hear the water rushing 🎶

Arriving so early meant I had a couple of hours at the falls with only a few others. Blissful hours with the elements to swim, to climb, to soak up the sun. To release, with the falls, whatever fears I’m still harbouring so clearly past their prime 🌊

I think I’m going to start handing my days over to God more often 🙏🏻

Surrender isn’t to the ‘object’ it’s directed. But a process in which we can unwind and be more present to whatever the moment holds…

Let’s each keep rising to our fears, however big or small, and know that it’s truly not all on our shoulders to carry 💖

What three days in Silence looks like for me…

It’s more than a ‘digital detox’
More than a time to catch up with sleep and self-care
More than an opportunity to renew Faith
More than a chance to recommit to my practice/Sadhana

And while it is a really beautiful opportunity to taste the deeper peace within, it’s so much more than that

For the experience of Silence, there truly aren’t words

(poetic I know…)

It’s like a nudge, a reminder, a quiet but so loud of inner calling to… simply know… Who I Am

Going forward I will be sharing more authentically, of who I am and what I believe - in hopes it might resonate and help others

Cause really, that’s what it’s all about - this being here, to lift one another up 💓🙏🏻 ✨

I’ve been wanting to share with you all - what an amazing retreat I had on Lake Superior with a cpl wks back 😌

From the location, to the food, the other women in attendance, the activities/practices, the adorable canvas tents, the hot tub and sauna overlooking the lake, every single detail was first class ⭐️

What a gift to step out of the regular roles and routines and to be taken care of so sweetly by such sincere and capable ppl 💓

When I first started teaching yoga, hardly any one would come 🤷🏻‍♀️

My first class was with one friend 🧘‍♀️

I taught for many months, with an average of 1-2 students per class. Driving 40 minutes one way across the city to the little studio space I was given, many times to have no one even turn up at all 🚗

I was only losing money. But it was about so much more than that. I was learning 🤓

I hardly knew myself back then. I hardly knew Yoga 🌅

But I knew there was something brewing inside me that needed to evolve. I had so much faith in the teachings I’d been given that it allowed me to overcome the intense self-doubt ✨

I’d regularly come back to Dryden to study with my sweet ppl here. The LSY community was incredibly inviting, so sincere and so strong in the pursuit of truth. Each time, leaving made less sense. So eventually I decided to come back for good ✌🏼

It was here that I found the realest support, the steadiest friends and the most sincere students. It’s here that who I was- was really received and allowed to flourish. It’s a blessing I hold so dear and will never take for granted 🙏🏻

Carly put her heart and soul into building the LSY Community. It was her calling to share Yoga, knowing in her heart what I also felt, that it could be everything that a person could ever seek 🪷

Her conviction and her integrity has allowed me so much opportunity to find my own footing ⛰️

Just a little example of how one person can make a remarkable difference. We never know how our own sincere efforts can ripple out 🌊

Tonight will be the last class I teach for LSY but not the end of growing with this Community. We are all on our individual journeys but undoubtedly interconnected in the most mysterious ways. Let’s keep going fwd, lifting one another up and not looking back 💪🏼

Being an entrepreneur means trading stability for freedom 🪽

It means no two days are alike and that you really aren’t reliant on anyone other than yourself 🎢

You get to be creative. You have to be adaptable. With at least a little streak of rebellion 💥

There are a lot of unknowns, and in that you better get to know yourself 🤔

It’s not a path for everyone and don’t confuse this to think I’m saying it’s better or right for you…

But it is for me. And it wasn’t until recently that I accepted this fate fully. My final farewell to perceived stability in the name of freedom 👋🏻

Sure some days I still panic 🌪️

But other days, I find myself…

on the most glorious summer solstice day ☀️

working at the park I have so many childhood memories in 🏕️

beside a gorgeous, clear lake 🌊

under the sun and in the trees 🌲

helping a very special group to unwind and remember what’s real and right within them 🧘‍♀️

still with time to paddle and wander in the woods on my own 👣

free and creative, trusting, and at one with it all ✨

And I like to remember that this is the life I’ve chosen 🙏🏻

There’s a fire inside each of us that needs tending ⚡️

This little glow, ever present and ready to spark, it needs our attention to properly burn 🪵

To turn, into a beautiful, controlled blaze 🔥

To fade, into glowing hot embers 🌅

To light, the same spark within others off of 🕯️

When I was young, I had a real fire inside. I honestly had no idea what to do with it. As a girl, it didn’t seem to serve me well to be loud, or fierce or assertive or brave 🧨

And so I doused it. In wrong-thinking. In drink and in drugs and with my own complete silence in the face of many a man who hadn’t even learned to tend to fire themselves 🧯

It’s been quite some time now that I’ve been devoted, to tending to myself and that lil light inside ✨

Sometimes the power of it still scares me. The heat with which it can whip out so unexpectedly, has given me a lot of pause and second thought as to what I’m even doing 🚒

But more recently, with upmost respect and a steady hand, the fire‘s feeling more like a glow, forever in my heart. No longer an uncontrolled burn. Tho it does need near constant attention. And it needs to really breathe 🌬️

I’ve discovered that this glow really wants to warm others. To brighten and inspire. To grow and shed light upon new and larger spaces 🎇

This is the Nature of Fire, and we all have it inside 🐦‍🔥
