Weather Warning

Folks the heat in the valley is going to be HOT! It will top out at 30 degrees today and there is not a snowballs chance in rain coming till possibly Friday.

We are urging everyone to please dress lightly and take lots of water with you.

Pets, especially dogs take a long time to adapt to heat so please be sure to watch your pet closely. If possible, keep your pets indoors or in shady areas. DO NOT leave dogs in cars and have plenty of water for them at all times. We would also like to warn pet owners about their paws while walking on pavement or asphalt. Please do a touch check on the pavement prior to your pet. If the pavement is too hot for the palm of your hand, it will burn your fur babies' paws.

If you see a pet locked in a car, and you believe it is in destress, please contact the BC SPCA Cowichan & District Branch, Coastal Animal Services and the RCMP.

If you or your pet begin to feel unwell, seek shade or find cover in a store or home. Please take a moment to read the signs ans symptoms of heat related emergencies in both humans and our pets below.
