Please welcome Ashley Jagga to our community as she provides summer Locum Coverage for Jane and Talia in August.

✨Hello, namaste and sat sri akaal! I am incredibly excited to be back on the island and this time, working with the diverse families of Cowichan Valley — what a privilege and honour. Since graduating from the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster, I have spent most of my career practising in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, one of the many places I call home, and recently in Victoria.

I am an advocate for racial equity and committed to trauma informed, anti-oppressive, family-centred care. I also offer care in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. I have been on the Association of Ontario Midwives’ Racial Equity Committee (REC) since it’s outset and am also on the Canadian Alliance of Racialized Midwives (CARM). I am passionate about cultural humility, empowerment and advocacy through informed client care as well as consultancy / advisory work. I’m looking forward to working alongside you and your family.

Join us for an inclusive and evidence-based childbirth education class. Learn about the physiologic progression of labour, coping and pain management options, how to advocate for yourself during your birth, navigating medical interventions, and the early days postpartum. This doula-facilitated offering is for racialized and culturally diverse birthing people and their support team (partner/friends/family). You’ll end the weekend with a draft birth plan, knowledge to make informed choices, and a boost in confidence as you approach the birth of your baby.
