Julie Wilson
Julie began her culinary journey at the age of 10, at the side of her Yugoslavian grandmother, spending countless hours with her in the garden, cultivating the foods they would later harvest and prepare into cherished old-world recipes. This is where Julie first learned to cook from the heart and it has remained a lifelong passion. Her talents in the kitchen were first recognized in high school when her classmates would turn to her to fix their failed cooking class concoctions. After years of being informally hailed a culinary guru among her social and family circles, she started a Facebook group where she shares recipes and tips. Through no promotion beyond word of mouth, she now has hundreds of followers who regularly engage, asking her for meal-planning suggestions, cooking or food preparation advice. After a medical issue that left her largely bedridden for 18 months, Julie decided to take Hippocrates’ advice, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” She began a 21-day Raw Food Detox that not only turned her health around, but changed the way she now prepares and consumes food. She completed the Russell James Master Raw Culinary Techniques Course including Raw Chef at Home, Raw Chef Desserts at Home, Raw Chocolate 1-4, Weekday Raw and finally Raw Fermentation at Home. Having done private food prep consulting from her home for the last few years, demand has reached a point where she is now branching out, offering healthy meal prep classes to the community at large, through Sol Centre.
