I love the invitation for stillness that this piece invokes. I’ve noticed in my own sitting practice how the tension in my legs and feet melts away if I can just get past the one minute mark! Sitting and staring is another aspect of art making for me too. I have distinct and fond memories of staring at the art that hung on our walls as a child. I would see new shapes, stories and lines every time I gazed at length. Some of those pieces still hang on my walls today.

This is one of nine paintings I’m working on. A little collection titled ‘born wild’. The letters B O R N W I L D are buried deeply into the layers of the paintings.

They will be hanging for the months of September and October.

This piece is called ‘embrace yourself’. The double figures are opposing, yet one and the same, intertwined and two sides of the same coin. Light and dark… one love.

I am honoured to have it hanging along side the beautiful work of at the fantastic in Courtenay, K’omoks First Nations Territory. Delicious food, incredible staff, and gorgeous atmosphere. Go there. ⭐️🖤⭐️
