Are you a parent of a youth who has accessed emotional or mental health services in the Cowichan Valley? Would you like to participate in research to improve health services in this area?
CWHC is working on a study to develop a strategic plan and recommendations to improve the valley’s health and mental health services for youth.
We want to add a parent’s perspective to this research. So far, we have heard a lot from service providers and the challenges they face due to or because of mission objectives, money, capacity, or wait-lists. We are planning to engage with youth to understand their perspective, however we feel understanding parents experiences of navigating the system alongside their young person is incredibly valuable and relevant as well.
We are recruiting a small number of parents to participate in a focus group being held on June 7th. We will not be digging into personal ‘stuff’ or asking people to unpack/share their trauma. We will be asking folks to share their story in a way that will help us understand how/if/where the system worked for them as they tried to do the best for their young person and what needs to change to better meet the needs of our children.
If you might be interested in participating, please DM us with your contact information and we will reach out. If you know someone who would like to share their story, please share this message.
Thank you!
