At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, a motor vehicle incident caused damage to the emergency entrance at Cowichan District Hospital. Thankfully, there are no reported injuries to staff or patients.

Island Health’s Facilities Maintenance & Operations team has assessed the area and initial findings show no structural damage to the building foundation. Temporary doors have been installed and staff will be stationed at the entrance in the coming days to support patient access.

The emergency department remains open, safe to access and people should not hesitate to seek care at CDH if they require emergency medical attention.

We heard the news that Outlooks Menswear - Duncan will be closing at Thanksgiving and we wanted to share some thanks of our own for a longtime community supporter.

The Cowichan District Hospital Foundation gives special thanks to Miles Anderson of Outlooks Menswear for his many years of generous support. From faithfully attending and supporting our annual fundraising gala to contributing numerous auction items—including a full suit that Miles proudly modelled for several years—his dedication has made a lasting impact. Outlooks Menswear will be missed by many in the community. We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support, generosity, and kindness.

The CDHF office will be closed tomorrow, September 30, for Truth & Reconciliation Day.

Our team loves partnering with the incredible Chemainus Health Care Auxiliary who care so much about supporting healthcare in our community. Our visit with the CHEK News Upside Guys last year was so much fun, and the $125,000 donation made in honour of the 125th anniversary was just phenomenal. A year later and we have just received another $50,000 donation from the Auxiliary towards new equipment for Cowichan's new hospital taking their total contribution to $300,000!!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕 what a powerhouse fundraising team and community you are!

We are so grateful to Tracy and her team at Redefined Clothing Boutique for the donation of proceeds from the recent Sidewalk Sale. More than a sale, this was an event, with racks and racks of clothes out for display and browsing, and 900 items sold over the 3-days! Tracy generously split proceeds raised between CDHF and the Cowichan Hospice Society - these donations ($4,000 each) will directly impact the health of our community. Thank you to everyone who came out and selected some bargains, and thank you to Redefined Clothing Boutique for your incredible generosity.
