Have you been craving chocolate more than usual?

As chocolate provides a source of magnesium, you may be craving due to a deficency or increased demands for it.

Signs You May Be Low
- muscle twitching
- menstrual cramping
- difficulty falling asleep
- lack of energy
- feeling anxious or worried
- headaches
- constipation
- elevated blood pressure
- tingling in extremities
- feeling depressed
- feeling stressed out
- poor glycemic control

With everything that is going on right now, is it any surprise you may be feeling any of these ⬆🤷‍♀️?

Magnesium is an ESSENTIAL nutrient and cannot be synthesized by the body. Which means we need to consume by eating magnesium rich foods and for many - add in a supplement.
Our demands for magnesium go through the roof when we are faced with chronic stress, poor sleep and we lean on caffeine, alcohol and sugar to keep going.

Magnesium is necessary for over 300 metabolic reactions in the body including:
- DNA & RNA synthesis
- cellular energy production
- protein synthesis
- liver detoxification
- heart function
- blood glucose metabolism
- bone formation
- nerve transmission
and more!

Food sources include:
- pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts, almonds, sesame seeds, tahini
- swiss chard, spinach, collard greens, beet greens
- brown rice, quinoa, teff
- lentils, kidney beans, pinto beans
- bananas
- avocado
- yogurt

When choosing to supplement its very important to review the ingredients. Many brands will include a filler "oxide" promoting a laxative effect . . . which bascially means you are flushing your money down the toilet - if you know what I mean.

While that may be a desirable effect for some, it won't help your body absorb and utilize magnesium in the way you need it to.

That's why I am very careful when recommending supplements. I always review ALL the ingredients to ensure its the right one for you.

Looking Back Before Looking Ahead

Too often we rush into the new year with our new big goals and to-do lists without first celebrating what we accomplished the year before…

Celebrating our WINS no matter how big or small...no matter if we fully hit our goals or not is actually a very important part of continuing success…

It changes our focus from what we still need to accomplish to what we have ALREADY accomplished…

In the most basic sense... focusing on our WINS makes us feel like a WINNER...and this creates a very different set of chemical reactions in our brain than always only thinking about all the things that we still have left to do. . .

Adding more water into your diet is the EASIEST + MOST COST EFFECTIVE way to boost your energy, support bodyweight and prevent headaches or backaches.

Only, I've slacked off.😳

I reminded myself all the reasons WHY my body needs more water.

➡️ Circulation- without enough water our blood cells aggregate limiting oxygen transport to the entire body. As seen in Darkfield Microscopy 🔬

➡️ Lubricates intestines - in other words it helps you 💩. If you are straining, or pushing, or noticing rabbit like pellets . . . You may be dehydrated.

➡️ Skin - want youthful healthy looking skin? In the winter months cold dry weather and wood burning stoves suck all the moisture out of your skin (eyes, hair as well)

➡️ Energy - feeling sluggish? Poor circulation is a factor. see above

➡️ Detoxification- liver, kidneys, bowels, skin, lymph ALL need sufficient fluid to transport wastes out and flush nutrients into cells

➡️ Dehydration- is often confused with appetite. Want to lose weight? Drink half your body weight in ounces to suppress appetite and practice intermittent fasting.

Calling all pumpkin 🎃 spice lovers!

I'm food prepping for a girls weekend and yes I'm bring this deelish Pumpkin Spiced No Oatmeal with me.

I love going away but don't do well with most restaurant food so I'm packing my own breakfast that I can easily enjoy at the resort.

Stay tuned for other yummy treats I will be bringing.

PUMPKIN SPICED NO OATMEAL

1 cup oat milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
1/4 cut h**p hearts
2 tbsp coconut sugar
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of sea salt
Optional, 2 tbsp pecans and/or shredded coconut

Directions
1. Heat oat milk or or plant based milk of choice in small saucepan on medium heat until warm.
2. Add in all dry ingredients and still to combine as it cooks for about 3 minutes or until thick and creamy.
3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
4. Top with pecans or shredded coconut 🥥.
Enjoy!

Our Story

Hi there! I'm Nancy Este, Women's Nutrition and Digestive Health Expert. I became a nutritionist because I was looking for natural solutions to healing my own gut and hormonal imbalances.

I suffered with terrible constipation and digestive issues as a teen (thanks to my carb addiction) and in my mid 20's I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and years later fibromyalgia. From dealing with debilitating fatigue, muscle and joint pain, and brain fog, food was the number one healing tool to help me bring my fibromyalgia into remission, diffuse inflammation and bring my hormones into balance.

Over the years I've tried numerous diets and wellness trends, looking for a fancy and quick fix. Here's what I can tell you...

None of it worked. And none of it will work.
