Considering the major price increase we've all been experiencing, it's understandable that eating healthy can feel unachieveable.

Unfortunately, it's true that fresh fruits and vegetables, lean animal proteins, whole grains and nuts and seeds will cost more than a diet of highly processed foods.

BUT GOOD NEWS! 🥳 It IS possible to eat a healthy diet even when money is tight. Before you do your next grocery run, check out this diagram to find out which common grocery store items will give you the most bang for your buck.

Need a way to get more fruits and vegetables in? Looking for a quick "on the go meal" or an easy digestible post-workout recovery meal? 🤔

INTRODUCING SUPER SHAKES 🥤

🍽 If you're using it as a meal replacement:

▪️Go light on the fruit and anything with sugar
▪️Double or triple (or more) the fat over the "basic recipe" (to keep you feeling full as it decreases the speed of digestion)
▪️Be on the higher end for protein 30-50 grams (to make it more satiating)

⚖️ If you're goal is to gain weight:

▪️Add 1-2 shakes during the day can help increase calories without having to be constantly eating
▪️You can also add extra carbs (ie. oats, sweet potato) into your shake

🥗 If you're using it as a way to get more veggies:

▪️Put in just enough fruit or sweet stuff to make it not disgusting (lol)
*The goal is not to eat a lot of fruit or carbs here, the goal is to increase vegetables in this case)
▪️Add a moderate amount (1 thumb) or zero fat - if it isn't a meal replacement, skip this
▪️Skip the protein if you're just looking to get your greens in

EvolutionU (formally known as HIITFIT) is an online fitness and nutrition coaching business. Using a holistic approach, we work with our clients to achieve their goals. We create individualized plans that look at the individual as a whole and consider all aspects of their well-being.

Let's face it. We are in a food dominant month. Treats, baked foods, big dinners, parties, and celebrations are at an all time high.

The holidays are here and with Christmas being 7 days away here are some tips to "win" the holidays and keep your weight in balance:

1️⃣ Non-exercise thermogenesis (NEAT) makes up 63% of our day (if you sleep 8 hrs). Increasing NEAT will help with fat loss, improve overall health, and enhance your mood this can be anything from doing the dishes, parking farther away or going tobogganing (really anything to keep your body moving)

2️⃣ Poor meal choices are often made from poor planning and when we're running low on energy. During these times we usually reach for high palatable foods which are high in salt, sugar and fat which taste good in the moment but aren't so great in the long run.

3️⃣ This one is HUGE especially with the amount of celebrations going on this time of year. Don't go for a heaping plate of food, eat slowly and mindfully, think twice before taking a second serving or multiple desserts

4️⃣ Even if you are going to parties and get togethers, half of your plate should be veggies. Vegetables are full of fiber and will keep you full and satiated and also have vitamins that your body needs to feel good and give you energy.

5️⃣ For an average adult it is recommended to have 8 cups of water daily. Bring a water bottle with you while doing errands and choose your drinks wisely! You'd be surprised about how many calories and sugar you are consuming with 1 drink.

Thank you for making the first summer of outdoor fitness classes a great experience! It has been so much fun creating and running them. We will restart outdoor classes in May 2022. In the meantime, join our virtual fitness classes starting in October for $10/class!
