EMDR is an effective treatment for trauma, anxiety and chronic pain, with decades of research showing significantly faster results than traditional talk therapy. Finding the right therapist is important for a few reasons!
✔️Therapy is expensive
✔️ Sharing our stories can be hard work (so we don’t want to start over)
✔️Your time is valuable
✔️Research shows that the relationship with your therapist is the most important factor to promote healing in therapy.

We know how tough finding the right connection can be (and many of us from first-hand experience).

We developed a quiz to help you remove the guesswork. With only 14 questions, it can be completed in under 2 minutes and you will hear back about which therapist(s) on our team would be a great fit based on your goals, personality, interests, and accessibility.

To take the quiz, visit our website www.landrypsychology.com. Link in bio.
We look forward to meeting you!

We are excited to introduce a new offering!

For those who have a specific goal in mind and aren’t interested in long term therapy or diving into history. Solution Seekers are one-time sessions with a mental health expert aimed to help you work toward a resolution for a specific problem.

We know that many problems can’t be solved instantly, so we hand selected some very specific topics to work with. Your therapist will request some additional information upon booking to prepare for your customized meeting, and we have extended the session length to 90 minutes to give more time to reach your goals. You will walk away with new knowledge, tools, and a game plan. 👏🏻

Solution seekers, contact us today to schedule your customized session, or book your session online (link in bio).

Daniella is one of our highly trained Provisional Psychologists, and she is currently accepting new clients!
She works with children, teens and adults to address anxiety, trauma, bullying, divorce, self harm and emotional dysregulation. Her skill set includes a variety of evidence-based therapies including EMDR, EFT, art therapy, play therapy, DBT, and most recently- animal assisted therapy with her sidekick, Minnie!

We asked Daniella what favourite habit or tool she regularly uses to support her mental health. She responded, “Mid-day Yoga breaks. I take 1-2 hours daily out of my work schedule to eat and do some yoga. It is a great reset both mentally and physically. I started incorporating this in the new year and it has been life changing!”

To learn more about Daniella or schedule an appointment, contact us at [email protected] or call/text (780)708-7335.

Sarah is our new student therapist (starting May 11!) and is currently in the process of finishing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Sarah is supervised by experienced Registered Psychologist Kristi Landry and is offering discounted therapy until December.

Sarah’s passion is working with first responders, due to her own connections to the field. She also works with teens, adults and veterans to address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress/burnout, PTSD, addiction, anger management and relationships.

We asked Sarah if aliens landed on earth tomorrow and offered to take her home with them if she would go. She responded, “I think I would have to go because my partner would not forgive me if I didn’t, but also I could return with superpowers or some really cool space knickknack.”

To learn more about Sarah or schedule an appointment, reach out to us at [email protected] or call/text 780-708-7335.

Josh is our student therapist and is currently in the process of finishing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Josh is supervised by experienced Registered Psychologist
Rebecca Ings and is offering discounted therapy until August.

Josh works with teens and adults, though he has a special interest in working with first responders. Anxiety, depression, trauma, stress/burnout, PTSD and identity issues are his jam.

We asked Josh who his favourite Disney hero/ heroine is and if he would trade places with them. His answer: “Milo Thatch from the movie Atlantis: the Lost Empire. I love that he starts off as a nerdy, intelligent professor-type person who has to learn to embrace those qualities that others look down on him for. By the end of the film he has found his strengths in those qualities and is able to help those around him by thinking things through, and not relying on his (non-existent) muscles to save the day.”

To learn more about Josh or schedule an appointment, reach out to us at [email protected] or call/text 780-708-7335.

It’s time to re-introduce ourselves!

First up- Alora.
Registered Provisional Psychologist specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety, burnout, goal setting, relationships, and neuropsychological ADHD assessments.

Alora’s clients describe her as incredibly warm, nonjudgmental, and that they feel safe in her presence.

We asked Alora what fictional world or place she would like to visit and she responded, “HOGWARTS! Don’t even have to think about this question.” (She’s Gryffindor, by the way).

P e r s p e c t i v e.

The brain is our most powerful tool. The messages we tell ourselves about what is happening to us will impact our entire experience.

Is Gator telling herself “ugh, this stupid stick is so heavy and I have to lug it along for our entire walk. I hate this.”

I suspect not. If she had human thoughts, she might be thinking “dang, this is a nice stick. Best one here. I’m so lucky I found it. Even though it’s heavy I think I’m strong enough to bring it for the whole walk.”

What are the messages you are telling yourself about your experience?
- the chores you have to do
- the habits you want to maintain to keep healthy
-the goals you are working toward
-the things you have to do that are hard

Is there a different way to spin your perspective? Not to lie to yourself, friends, but to approach life with a perspective that serves you and reminds you of how capable you are.

With a standard fee of $220 per 50 minute session, we realize therapy isn’t accessible to everyone. But it should be.

Here’s how we can help:

📌Our student therapist, Josh, offers low cost ($50) sessions with some space on his caseload for pro bono (free) sessions. You receive the benefit of input from his supervisor, experienced Registered Psychologist, Rebecca Ings. Josh’s practicum ends in August, so consider connecting with him soon to make the most of this opportunity! We will also have a new student starting with us in May.

📌We direct bill to Blue Cross and Green Shield! We provide receipts for all other payments that can be submitted to other insurance companies.

📌Our therapists are encouraged to offer some reduced rates as part of their case load, in order to give back to the community. Many of our therapists also offer a lower standard rate.

📌Marlen, Rebecca, and Kristi opt to provide 60 minute sessions rather than the industry standard 50 minutes.

📌We offer group therapy! Group sessions are $65, which is 70% less than than a standard individual therapy session.

📌Lastly, our therapists offer no-fee phone consultations to help you determine the right fit BEFORE committing to a paid therapy session.

Private practice is not the only way to access high-quality mental health support. Call 211 to learn more about resources available to you, or reach out to us with any questions about how we might be able to help!

Check out this great explanation of anxiety from Jilynne!

We treat anxiety by helping you understand your nervous system, then giving you tools to create new neural networks. Yup, therapy sessions change your brain! How cool is that?

Jilynne is currently accepting new clients. If you are interested in working with her to address your anxiety (or trauma, depression, or relationship issues) contact us to set up your first meeting. Link in bio.

A friendly reminder as we move into the busyness of September:

Make space for what makes you feel well! Whether it be time alone, connecting with friends, being creative, getting outside, going on an adventure, moving your body, going to bed early or reading an excellent book- habits that promote your wellness deserve a regular spot in your busy schedule.

The healing process is not a fast one.
Our wounds, patterns and inaccurate conclusions about ourselves were created and maintained over a lifetime, which means that they won’t change overnight. In fact, it can feel very jarring and vulnerable for our bodies to experience these deep changes so quickly. (Fact: therapy involves changing our brains. Each therapy session creates new neural networks, which involve new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. Those changes, however difficult to measure, are a big deal!)

Be patient with yourself in this challenging change process. You are work of art, and you deserve to take your time. ❤️

It often isn’t emphasized how trauma responses are actually SURVIVAL responses.

Hypervigilance, avoidance, withdrawal, mood dysregulation and intrusive thoughts/memories tend to have a profound impact on our functioning, wellness and relationships. However, when we are living in a crisis, these can keep us alive.

This is a reminder to be gentle with yourself if you have or are experiencing symptoms of PTSD. Your body has adapted to keep you alive, and with gentleness and treatment, it can gradually begin to remember what safety feels like.

As therapists, it isn’t about “us” in the room, so our clients don’t usually hear us talk about who we are and what we believe.

But wait, isn’t that part of how we build trust and connection? 🤔 We agree. So we will be sharing fun facts about our therapists regularly so you can get to know us a little better.

Alora is a registered provisional psychologist and works with teens and adults. Her clients describe her as incredibly warm, inviting, and trustworthy. Alora also completed ADHD assessments with children and adults! To schedule an appointment with Alora or try out a no fee phone consultation, call or email us today! 780-708-7335, [email protected]

Words of wisdom this morning are from Alok Vaid-Memon in “Beyond the Gender Binary.”

This particular issue sums up the underlying cause if so much human suffering, including gender expression and how we are taught to behave and get along with one another. We can learn to look at things differently and rid ourselves of the boxes. But first we need to recognize what boxes we are living in and why they are there in the first place.
