Igor was more than a "pet." He was my furry family member and one that I had a profound connection with, a healthy one! When the loss of a loved one is unexpected, sudden, or tragic, we feel it internally with force.
Having lost Igor, feels like I have lost pieces of myself. I feel disconnected from myself and from those around me. Although I desperately long for a view and state familiar to me, I know that is unattainable because my reality has changed.
My vision is no longer the same. The lens I now view my life through is blurred with grief, flooded with deep sorrow and moments of hopelessness.
There are times that I feel so disconnected from myself. It's like I'm having an out of body experience. I watch others carry on with routine, I hear the clock ticking, and notice the days go by. And I just want to fu***ng scream.
My views on life, love, and death are forever evolving, as I have this constant reminder that at anytime the one (s) you love can be taken away from you. Or, in our case, having to make a decision to end sweer Igors life.
Igor, your love and vibrant energy while on earth helped me to heal so many layers of myself and my past. Yesterday evening, you came to me and reminded me that you can still guide me on a spiritual level, and you did. You saved me again!
I pray numerous times a day to never loose that feeling of your love because it holds a divine power, which reminds me that love is really all we have in the end.
To all those grieving a loss, any loss that has turned your world upside down and all around. Please know that it's important to have safe connection with a partner, friend, family member, or mental health professional you trust. When your emotions and feelings are overwhelming and you start to question your worth. PLEASE remember YOU MATTER!
