I was raised a Catholic.
I was baptized as an infant, confirmed at the age of 10, and then trained and served as an altar girl.
Sometimes I would carry the cross down the aisle, other Sundays I would be the candle bearer.
I prepped his chalice and poured his wine.

Catholicism was a big part of our every day life. We said grace before meals and prayed before bed.
Pictures of Jesus hung on our walls and three statues of Mary’s gazed at my bedroom floor weeping.
Catholicism also fuelled our every holiday.

I was 15 when I left it, with one fiery walk up the aisle and out the door mid sermon during a random Sunday morning mass.
I had heard enough.

It would take another 15 years or so to make my own steps to explore what makes my heart feel aligned with my actions, (specifically around holiday seasons, as previously they had been so Catholic based.)

This year has been the best, (and closest) to fine tuning what feels right! And, a big part of that has been the decorative and creative part around focusing on Yule and the planning for the upcoming Winter Solstice.
