Good Morning My Loves,
So I was thinking, it might be a good thing to talk a little bit about these things called Chakras. ⚡️If you aren’t aware of their functions or need a refresher, this little blurb just might be for you!
Chakras are energy centres in the body that are closely connected to our physical and mental health. The Sanskrit word for Chakra is “wheel;” so think of these centres as spinning energy, if you will. A cone like shape coming from the body, front and back.
Did you know there are over 100 different chakras in the body? The 7 Major Chakras, are most commonly talked about in the Western world. When these centres come out of balance, it can have effect on our physical or emotional well being.
Today, let’s discuss the Root Chakra (Muladhara)❤️
The Root Chakra is the first of the 7 Major Chakras. The main function of the Root Chakra essentially is to “ground” and “root” us🌲it is our connection to our instinctual and basic needs.
The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and is connected to Minor Chakras at the feet, ankles, knees and groin. It supports the upward flow of energy from the Earth and when it is open we feel the most comfortable and confident in our bodies. The Root Chakra is connected with how you relate to the world and how ambition, survival and dependancy are controlled in our lives.
If we are disconnected from the Root Chakra our bodies can manifest physical disorders that affect the sacrum, spine, excretion and sexual organs. Mental signs of an imbalanced Root Chakra can include pessimism, anxiety, depression and anger, just to name a few. Our safety and sense of security are based from the Root Chakra as well and when we experience traumas throughout our lives, these conditions can also be greatly affected.
You may be wondering 🤔What are some of the ways you can balance this Chakra?
With the Root Chakra, being associated with the Earth element🌎, connecting with nature is one of the easiest, most accessible ways to refresh and renew your Chakra’s energy. As little as a 10-30 minuet walk can do wonders to your connection with the earth, especially if you are able to find a place where you can go barefoot.👣
Ever wonder why you feel soooooo good after taking a barefoot walk on the beach? 🌊Aside from being next to water (which is one of the most healing elements on the planet,) when your feet are directly connected to the ground, that is about the closest you can be connect to the earths energy. From the time we are young, we are made to wear rubber/plastic soled shoes to “protect” our feet, yet this does cause a barrier between our bodies and our connection to the earth.
Earthing (walking barefoot,) gardening, yoga,🧘♀️ meditation, affirmations, dance, 💃🕺eating root vegetables and red foods (such as beets, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes,) wearing red and carrying specific crystals such as Red Jasper or Tourmaline can all help balance the Root Chakra.
If you found this interesting, stay tuned for more tidbits on Chakras to come 🥰
Much love🫶
