A history of speech or language delay in early childhood doesn’t always “go away” even if your child now speaks clearly.🗣️

Research shows that early language difficulties can be linked to challenges in:

📖Reading accuracy and comprehension
✍️Written expression and vocabulary growth
🧩Following multi-step instructions
💭Processing information in class

A comprehensive psychoeducational assessment can uncover whether current school struggles are related to earlier speech/language concerns and guide targeted supports for literacy, comprehension, and classroom learning.🫶

Why now? Identifying the connection early means programming can be adapted before gaps widen.❕

$1,800 includes cognitive, academic, and attentional measures, plus a full written report and recommendations.📚

Limited fall assessment spots available. Call today to book with our registered School Psychologist.☎️

Source: Early language delays are a strong predictor of later literacy and academic performance (Catts et al., 2017).

🌟 Meet Erin, one of our very first Speech-Language Pathologists at Alberta Therapy Co.! 🌟

After completing her Master’s at the University of Toronto in 2016, Erin packed up her minivan and made the move to Alberta 🚗✨. She began her career in schools, working alongside OTs, psychologists, and other SLPs to bring classroom-wide programs in social skills, reading comprehension, and more. She supported students from kindergarten to grade 12 through both individual and small group sessions.

A cornerstone of Erin’s practice is creating goals that are not only unique to each child’s communication needs, but also functional and meaningful in their daily lives 🌈.

We’re so lucky to have Erin on our team at Alberta Therapy Co. 💕

✨ Meet Mara ✨

Mara is an Occupational Therapist whose practice is grounded in neuroscience 🧠💙 She looks beyond labels like “not trying hard enough” and instead considers the many reasons why everyday tasks might feel challenging.

With experience living and working in 3 countries, advanced training in Sensory Integration, and certification in DBT, Mara brings both expertise and a culturally informed perspective to her practice 🌍✨

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find her singing, baking, traveling, or (trying!) to ice skate ⛸️🍰🌿

We’re so glad to have her on our team! 💫

Meet Kelsey, a new addition to our Occupational Therapy team!

Kelsey has an extraordinary passion for helping kids exceed their potential. Since becoming an OT in 2021, Kelsey has been dedicated to making therapy both meaningful and fun for each child. Her favorite part of being an OT is witnessing the pride on a child’s—and their parent’s—face when they accomplish something they’ve been struggling with.

Kelsey approaches each session with compassion and patience, understanding that raising the future is hard, but therapy shouldn’t be. She takes a family-centered approach, focusing on meeting kids where they are and creating sustainable programs that fit into everyday life.

Kelsey provides support in areas such as daily living skills (dressing, hygiene routines, toilet training, sleep), self-regulation, fine and gross motor development, and mealtimes (self-feeding, selective eating, oral motor skills development). With experience in FSCD contracts, she especially enjoys working with neurodivergent populations.

Outside the clinic, Kelsey loves trail running, chasing after her toddler, or camping with her family. In the winter, you’ll find her hibernating with a chai latte.
