I’m often asked what my home practice looks like.
The ideal is:
everyday
the same practice
the same time of day
the same space
the same duration
There’s something to be said about taking the novelty away from something. It gives you an opportunity for a deeper insight.
Although my home practice isn’t the exact “ideal”, it’s mostly what I strive for, and it gets closer and closer every year.
But what about when I travel?
Well most of that goes out the window.
I always travel with some form of yoga props, depending on the trip. My favourite is my travel mat, one block and one strap. But on a recent two week trip to Europe, doing only carry on luggage, I had to adapt. I forwent everything I’d normally bring and opted to only bring one yoga towel to use as a mat.
This meant getting creative for props and space.
Using my suitcase as a block, scarf as a strap and hotel pillows as bolsters, I was able to leverage anything and everything around me to my advantage… a technique the Katonah practice has taught me over the years, not only for yoga but also for life.
So here’s a video of one of my practices in Portugal. Using it all to my advantage ☀️😎
And then a clip of me with my two best friends of nearly 20 years- the main reason for this trip in the first place. To fully reunite with these two beautiful women in our little th*****me community. Here we are in Brighton recreating a photo of us from 14 years ago from when we first moved there. They have witnessed, supported and loved me through all my ebbs and flows of life, and have given me one of my deepest realizations of what a community truly can be.
We always knew we’d figure it out.
And we still are.
Whatever that means, through every stage of life.
Oh, and then one of Barry and myself in Madeira… my absolute favourite travel partner, who I will always look forward to my next adventure with 💕 ✈️ 🗺️
Join me back at the studio Wednesdays 6:00-7:15pm to build your practice in community, so you too can take it with you… wherever you may go 🧳
