Mandi's journey with mindfulness, accessible yoga, and creativity began in 2017, and it transformed her life. As someone living with Crohn's disease
, chronic pulmonary emboli, and anxiety, she discovered specific practices that helped her downregulate her stressed and overactive nervous system, change her mental response to pain, and cultivate a sense of calm. Inspired to share these practices with others, Mandi completed a comprehensive yoga teacher training program in 2019, with a focus on making yoga accessible to people of all abilities and bodies. In addition to teaching yoga, Mandi has also studied clinical somatic exercise, a gentle movement practice that helps release chronic muscle tension and pain. This approach complements her yoga teaching and helps her students develop interoception, greater body awareness, and acceptance. Mandi's classes often centre on downregulating the nervous system and cultivating mindfulness through slow, subtle movements and consistent breath connection. Mandi invites students to accept what is and meet themselves where they are, without judgment.

"I didn’t expect my YTT to lead me to the front of the studio to teach, but I am so glad it has! I love sharing how we can change yoga asana (physical postures) to suit our own body on any given day. Helping students learn about their body, discover the mind-body connection, develop awareness – it’s amazing! I also lead creative art journal, affirmation card, and dotting workshops. What is art journaling, you might wonder? Ultimately, it’s an effective tool to process trauma and reconnect to play and creativity. I love to share this journey with others as a way to develop awareness, to recognize and name thoughts and feelings, and most importantly, to process, accept, and hopefully release them. Art journaling can be therapeutic, thoughtful, or simply a fun night to play with paint. Whether in the studio to move your body or express your heart, my hope is that you finish your class feeling amazed at what you can do and feeling a little more connected."
