Health Canada has approved the Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine for use in children 5-11. This is a different dose and schedule than the vaccine approved for individuals 12+.
For the initial rollout pharmacies will not be providing this vaccine, unless in remote communities. It will be provided through AHS vaccination centres.

On September 20,2021 some businesses will require a proof of vaccination or a negative covid-19 test within 72 hours.
Edgemont Pharmacy is still providing covid 19 vaccines, but we are also offering rapid covid 19 antigen tests for ASYMPTOMATIC testing now.
The results of the test can be used for travel purposes as well (please confirm what test your destination accepts. Rapid antigen tests are currently accepted for travel to the United States).
Rapid tests are provided for $40.

We will be offering the Pfizer vaccine starting Thursday June 3rd,2021. Now booking appointments for individuals who had their first shot in March.

This may be temporary and will potentially switch back to offering the Moderna vaccine based on incoming supply. For those individuals who received Moderna from us, I hope to have more information by the end of this week or early next week.

Edgemont Pharmacy will begin offering the Moderna covid-19 vaccination starting the week of Mar 29/21 (exact date is based on when vaccine will be shipped to us).

Adding your name on the waitlist also allows us to contact you if there is an appointment available last minute or when the next phase of vaccinations open up.

As COVID-19 cases climb in many provinces, flu season is also on the horizon. Doctors say there’s more interest in the flu shot this year — and there should be. But they’re warning patients to get the shot sooner rather than later. Here's why.

Updated guidelines regarding asymptomatic Covid-19 testing.
It is now recommended that only the high priority groups listed below be tested. This does not mean that anyone else cannot be tested, but our goal is to limit to the below groups to reduce burden on the laboratory.
Edgemont Pharmacy will continue to provide testing for asymptomatic individuals. Please call if you have any questions.

The recommended COVID-19 testing criteria has changed in Alberta.

To help reduce wait times, speed up access to results & support Albertans during respiratory virus & flu season, testing will focus on all Albertans with symptoms, plus additional priority groups.

This means that testing is Alberta is now recommended for:

🔵 Albertans with symptoms of COVID-19
🔵 Albertans who are close contacts of a confirmed case, symptomatic or not
🔵 Albertans linked to a known outbreak, symptomatic or not
🔵 All School teachers and/or school staff, symptomatic or not
🔵 All Healthcare workers, symptomatic or not
🔵 All Staff and/residents at congregate living facilities, symptomatic or not
🔵 And Albertans experiencing homelessness or requiring asymptomatic testing for travel

Pharmacies are also implementing these same criteria, and will offer testing only to eligible Asymptomatic Albertans.

Albertans with symptoms must get tested through AHS.

While new appointments will not be offered for asymptomatic Albertans who are not in the priority groups, those who booked an asymptomatic test with AHS prior to this announcement will still be tested. These appointments will be honoured.

Masks will be mandatory in all indoor public spaces starting August 1,2020. If you need to purchase some, stop by the pharmacy.

Edmonton city council has passed a bylaw that will mandate masks or face coverings in all indoor public spaces, as well as on public transit, effective Aug. 1.
