At first, Ainsley was hesitant to join Strive, the therapeutic group for men recommended by his mental health therapist. He didn’t feel comfortable opening up in a group setting.

Walking into his first session, Ainsley wanted to be in control of his experience. He thought to himself, “I’m here, you can’t tell me anything. Take it or leave it.” But he soon softened up when the other men in the group began talking. “I heard people introduce themselves and explain why they are there and I realized, I’m not alone.”

Are you looking to learn new tips and strategies for parenting, anger management, or self-improvement, but want a more 1-on-1 experience?

Most of our parenting, self-improvement, and anger management classes are available in a group or 1-on-1 private setting. Private classes are ideal if you want to get started sooner than the next workshop, can’t attend the workshops due to work schedules or other personal commitments, or simply prefer a more private setting.

The grieving process looks different for everyone.

There’s no right or wrong way to grieve, but there are healthy ways to cope with your loss. One way to work through these feelings is through creating art.

Whether you’re an avid painter or a wiz with crayons, our therapeutic support group, ‘Grieving Through Art’, is a safe space to talk about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours associated with the loss of a loved one by death, separation, and even pet loss.

The next group begins meeting on February 5. Learn more or sign up today at https://tfcna.com/3YszD9A

You’re struggling with unhealthy relationship dynamics. Why choose a therapy group over 1-on-1 counselling?

Counselling can be a major help in healing and growing. But coming together with other women who are also experiencing challenges in relationships can help you feel seen. You are not alone.

“The atmosphere in the [Healthy Relationships for Women therapy group] was welcoming, always positive, and non-judgmental,” shared one participant.

“The women in the group had very diverse backgrounds but were so supportive of each other. Getting validation was the most helpful aspect for me in my transformation.”

As the caregiver, you are responsible for setting logical consequences for your child.

You should do very little talking or arguing while consequences are taking place. Avoid saying things such as "I told you so." Statements like that turn consequences into punishment, and much of the effectiveness is lost.

When the situation has cooled off, talk with your child. Ensure that they know that they are loved despite what happened. You can discuss what happened, what they learned, and what they would do differently next time.
