On Saturday January 13, 2024 athletes, coaches, supporters and volunteers gathered at the MNP Sport & Community Centre in Calgary for the 7th annual ARES Open Fencing Tournament. Over 125 epeeists from clubs in Calgary and vicinity attended with a contingent from the Okanagan Freestyle Fencers club from Kelowna (and its surrounding communities).

For the 3rd time a Mixed Wheelchair event was held with contestants from Ares Pentathlon & Fencing Club competing in a friendly but fierce contest.

We look forward to continued success throughout the balance of the season and to next year's ARES Open to consolidate the sport of Wheelchair Fencing in Alberta!

Athletes interested in trying Wheelchair Fencing are welcomed to contact Ares ([email protected])!

Thanks Barbara for the deets!
