A new week brings in some new tips to stay healthy!

Below is some information on how you can fight inflammation🍖 🔥🌭 from your fridge!

Inflammation is one of the tools our immune system uses to keep foreign entities and pathogens, like bacteria or viruses, from causing damage to our bodies. When the immune system detects any sort of foreign invader, it sends blood, antibodies and proteins to fight it. This is a good thing, because it helps with healing.

Chronic inflammation lingers for months, can be very painful and it's not good for you. It leaves your body in constant alert and can be harmful over time, playing a role in many debilitating health problems such as dementia, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and joint diseases.

One of the most powerful tools to combat inflammation comes not from the pharmacy, but from the grocery store.

Foods you want to avoid eating are:

• Refined carbohydrates (white bread, pasta, French fries and pastries)
• Added sugars (soda, cookies, crackers — most processed foods contain added sugars)
• Fried foods
• Red meat (burgers, steaks) and processed meat (hot dogs, sausage) • Margarine, shortening and lard

An anti-inflammatory diet should combine a variety of foods that:
• Are rich in nutrients
• Provide a range of antioxidants
• Contain healthful fats

Foods that help manage inflammation include:
• Oily fish, such as tuna and salmon
• Fruits, such as blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and cherries
• Vegetables, including kale, spinach, and broccoli
• Beans/legumes
• Nuts and seeds
• Olives and olive oil

Hello Monday! Starting of the week which all of us hate. But we have something good to share.

Below are some tips which might be helpful if you work from home and have been feeling any physical pain or discomfort lately.

The habits we build at our desk, especially while sitting, can contribute to discomfort and health issues, including:

• Neck and shoulder pain
• Obesity
• Musculoskeletal disorders
• Stress
• Lower back pain
• Carpal tunnel

The good news is that moving or stretching is a build-able habit. For starters, you can set a timer to remind you to take a quick walk or stretch. If you’re pressed for time, there are even certain stretches you can do at your desk. Here are 3 upper body stretches that will help work out some of those computer kinks.

Remember to breathe normally throughout the stretches, and never hold your breath. With each stretch, you may find yourself more flexible. Don’t go further than is comfortable.

- Triceps stretch

1. Raise your arm and bend it so that your hand reaches toward the opposite side.
2. Use your other hand and pull the elbow toward your head.
3. Hold for 10 to 30 seconds.
4. Repeat on the other side.

- Overhead reach, or latissimus stretch

1. Extend each arm overhead.
2. Reach to the opposite side.
3. Hold for 10 to 30 seconds.
4. Repeat on the other side.

- Upper body and arm stretch

1. Clasp hands together above the head with palms facing outward.
2. Push your arms up, stretching upward.
3. Hold the pose for 10 to 30 seconds. Incorporating stretching into your work day will help improve range of motion, posture, and provides stress relief.

☀️😎How to get Vitamin D “Sunshine Vitamin” in the Winter😎☀️

As the days get shorter and colder, our time inside tends to grow longer. Your body produces vitamin D naturally when it’s directly exposed to sunlight and can also get it through certain foods and supplements to ensure adequate levels of the vitamin in your blood.

Here are some tips that will help ensure you are getting enough Vitamin D in the winter:

01. Make smart food 🐟 🥛 🍊 🥣 choices

Loading up your diet with healthy options is one way to get your recommended dose of vitamin D daily. If you're a fan of seafood, oily fish can be an amazing source of vitamin D. Sockeye salmon, mackerel, flounder, sole, swordfish, whitefish, sturgeon and rainbow trout.

Each palm-sized serving of these fish will help you get 75% to 100% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin D. As a bonus, you'll also get a dose of omega-3 fatty acids, which are the kind that are essential for our body & help fight inflammation.

Few foods contain vitamin D naturally. Because of this, some foods are fortified (labelled). This means that vitamin D has been added. Fortified foods that contain vitamin D include: Milk, cereal, yogurt and orange juice.

2. Opt to get outside ☀️😎

It may be cold outside, but you can still catch some sunshine throughout your day. It is as easy as going for a walk in the morning or during lunch, or playing in the snow with your kids and grand-kids. Spending 15 to 30 minutes outdoors three times a week (with sunscreen!) will help you get the Vitamin D you need.

3. Take a supplement 💊

It can be hard to get enough vitamin D each day through sun exposure and food alone, so taking vitamin D supplements can help.

"Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that many people don’t get enough of. That said, you can boost your vitamin D levels by eating foods rich in vitamin D, getting more sun exposure, and adding supplements to your diet."
