“We don’t talk enough about the loneliness of healing. Of realizing you’ve outgrown people who once felt like home.”

It’s not just romantic breakups that change us. Friendships shift too.

As you grow, you might notice certain relationships no longer align.

It’s hard. It’s quiet. And sometimes, it feels like grief.

But here’s the part we rarely unpack:

Letting go doesn’t have to be violent.

You don’t have to ghost, block, or act like they never mattered.

You can move forward with grace and still honour the role someone played in your story.

We wrote a blog about this. About how to leave without burning the bridge.

How to make peace with the space between who you were and who you’re becoming.

Ever caught yourself oversharing? 💬

We know what it’s like to hold so much inside. Sometimes, spilling everything feels like the only way to be seen and heard. But it’s not always easy to balance vulnerability with protecting our peace.

In our latest blog, we dive into why we tend to overshare and how we can still connect deeply without draining ourselves and others.

Whether we’re looking for validation, emotional release, or simply to feel understood, it’s important to find a healthy balance. 🌿

Let’s learn how to honour boundaries and show up authentically, without going overboard.

💭 Is Cancel Culture Helping or Hurting Our Relationships?

At the Velma Carter Centre, we’re diving deep into the impact of cancel culture on our Black communities, especially when it comes to the relationships that matter most.

While cancel culture can seem like a quick solution for dealing with betrayal or toxic behavior, it often leaves us disconnected and isolated—especially in communities where relationships are key to our survival and healing. ✊🏾💜

In our latest blog, we explore:
🔹 Why cancel culture is becoming a go-to response in personal relationships
🔹 The emotional and mental toll it takes on our communities
🔹 How we can replace cancelling with healing, communication, and restorative practice

As we navigate this complex issue, it’s important to remember: Healing starts with understanding, not cancelling. ✨

It’s Infertility Awareness Day.

💔 Black Women face the highest rates of infertility, but the lowest access to support. It’s time to change that.
Let’s talk about it: uterine fibroids, PCOS, medical bias, the cultural silence, and the deep grief we carry behind closed doors.
📊 Scientific studies now confirm what many of us have known for years: Black Women are more likely to struggle with infertility, yet less likely to get help.
Why? The system is not built for us, but we can reclaim our power.
Our latest blog post on the Velma Carter Centre platform is a must-read.
It breaks down:
✖️ The medical facts
✖️ The racial disparities
✖️ The conditions impacting fertility
✔️ What we can actually do about it
✔️ Where to get support that sees us, hears us, and honors us

✨ You are not broken. You are not alone. You are worthy of answers and care.

In a world that never slows down, it’s time to intentionally seek out those small but mighty moments that help us feel grounded and whole.

Black Women are so used to carrying everything that we don’t always realize when our bodies are waving the red flag.

The sleepless nights, the heavy chest, the feeling that you are always “on”—it’s more than stress. It can be anxiety, and we deserve to acknowledge it.

This read by the Velma Carter Centre really made me pause and reflect. If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone. 🖤
