Transitions can leave us feeling untethered โ€” like weโ€™re alone, lost, or unsure of what comes next. This is especially true when that transition is not one we have chosen but one that we have no choice but to make, like leaving a career as a result of PTSD or medical retirement.

Number four is a particularly fun one, and that is to EXPLORE! Pick a number of weeks this year (25? 50?) and, once a week, try something new: something fun, different, or nourishing. Not for performance, just for discovery.

Maybe itโ€™s a new class, a hike, a massage, trying a restaurant, visiting a friend, reading in the grass, or taking a day trip. The intention is what matters, and connection often follows.

Meet Victoria, Registered Provisional Psychologist here at Balance.

In counselling and in life, she doesnโ€™t believe in coincidences; our experiences and the people we meet help guide us to where weโ€™re meant to be.

Victoria has lived in four countries and moved more than twenty times, and since 2018 sheโ€™s been grateful to call Alberta home. She feels itโ€™s an honour to hold space for clients, and takes that privilege seriously.

Victoria supports Veterans, active CAF members, and First Responders, and also works with adolescents and adults navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and big life questions. Her client-centred, trauma-informed practice draws on ACT, CBT, and SFBT, and is grounded in empowerment, helping you use the strengths you already have to create meaningful change.

Conversations surrounding intimate partner violence often focus on physical harm, but survivors may also experience emotional abuse, coercive control, psychological trauma, intimidation, isolation, and post-separation abuse.

Our team at Balance Psychological Services can help by utilizing specific strategies for those facing trauma symptoms.

Your therapist will offer insight and guidance through several strategies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic therapy, ART, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Balance is invested in breaking down financial barriers to mental health support in our community! Thatโ€™s why we're offering FREE therapy sessions with our counselling interns.

Through their internship, they receive regular supervision and guidance from a fully licensed senior psychologist. This allows their clients to receive support from a trained and skilled therapist who also has regular consultation and access to a senior therapist's skills and knowledge. Clients benefit from the experience and knowledge of two therapists.
