Most of us have heard of the Marshmallow Test: Sit a child down at a table, offer a marshmallow, and make the following promise: “You can eat this now if you want, but if you wait 15 minutes until I come back, and you haven’t eaten it, you will get two marshmallows.” Some children show great powers of delayed gratification, not touching that marshmallow and others give in to temptation after only a few minutes. Researchers who followed up on the preschooler participants from the first marshmallow experiments of the 1970s, found that a child’s performance on the test was a predictor of many later outcomes: those that waited displayed higher academic outcomes and life success as adults. In 2012, Phd student, Celeste Kidd, took this research a step further. Prior to the marshmallow test, one group of children had the promise of receiving new art supplies broken while another group received the supplies they were promised. A second promise of getting stickers was also broken to the unreliable group. The marshmallow test was then administered. And the results were remarkable: Children in the reliable condition – who had received what they had been promised – waited four times as long their counterparts did. Lesson: Faith in outcome is shaped through experience. Be the person that gives a child the trust to wait for that second marshmallow ♥️. #research #parenting #parent#willpower #trust #discipline #momsofig #mom #phd

It’s the time of the season for Tick Bites🪳🏕Do you know what to do?
If a tick is attached to your skin, you can safely remove it:
Using tweezers, gently grasp its head and mouth parts as close to your skin as possible to avoid leaving mouthparts in the skin or crushing the tick.
Without squeezing the tick, slowly pull the tick straight up off the skin – do not jerk or twist it.
Do not apply matches, cigarettes, dish soap, petroleum jelly or any other substance to the tick. This will not encourage the tick to detach and may cause it to release infectious blood back into the wound.
Once the tick has been removed, clean the bite area with soap and water and disinfect the area with an antiseptic. Wash hands.
Visit your health-care provider for assistance in removing a deeply embedded tick as soon as possible if:
you are not comfortable with removing a tick or cannot safely remove the whole tick.
If you develop a rash, fever or flu-like symptoms within 30 days of a known tick exposure.
A health-care provider does not require a tick in order to make diagnoses. However, if the tick is available, it may be submitted to a lab for further testing.

Vegan Baked Mac n Cheese
5 min pasta “cheese” sauce recipe in my reels.
All I did was add some cooked broccoli and veggie grounds, pea crumbs (you can sub bread crumbs) and melted butter; then baked at 350 until bread crumbs were crispy and the pasta was warm.
