At Chartwell Rosemont Les Quartiers in Montréal, QC, residents enjoyed a summer filled with events that brought cultures from around the world to life. From Brazil to the Maghreb, and from Italy to Japan, each gathering highlighted cultural richness and strengthened the sense of community.

These celebrations were part of Diversi-Été, a program that honours cultural diversity through meaningful, engaging, and unifying experiences. Chris, a lifelong rail enthusiast in Milton, ON, had his dream come true when he stepped behind the controls of a real locomotive at the Canadian Railway Museum.🚂 For Chris, trains symbolize adventure, nostalgia, and connection to Canada’s history. 🧡 On September 30, Chartwell residences across Canada honoured the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with reflection, creativity, and care.

One of the most meaningful moments took place at Chartwell Whispering Pines, where Kim, a friend of the residence and member of the Ojibway community, led residents and staff in a traditional smudging ceremony. Her guidance reflected the same spirit of remembrance and hope shared across our residences.
At Chartwell Fountains of Mission, residents celebrated Rose, whose life story embodies resilience and strength. Meanwhile, residents of Chartwell Martha’s Landing joined a community gathering filled with songs, stories, and powerful speeches from Indigenous voices. In Okotoks, those at Chartwell Royal Park learned about the Blackfoot story of the Big Rock, deepening their connection to the land and its history. Over at Chartwell L’Unique, an educational quiz and documentary screening inspired thoughtful conversations on truth, understanding, and reconciliation.

Every meaningful activity echoed one important message: Every Child Matters.

🧡 Le 30 septembre, les résidences Chartwell à travers le Canada ont souligné la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation dans un esprit de réflexion, de créativité et de bienveillance.

L’un des moments les plus marquants a eu lieu au Chartwell Whispering Pines, où Kim, membre de la communauté ojibwée, a dirigé une cérémonie de purification traditionnelle. Sa présence reflétait le même esprit de souvenir et d’espoir partagé dans l’ensemble de nos résidences.
À Chartwell Fountains of Mission, les résidents ont rendu hommage à Rose, dont le parcours de vie incarne la résilience et la force. Pendant ce temps, ceux du Chartwell Martha’s Landing ont pris part à un rassemblement communautaire empreint de chansons, de récits et de discours inspirants de voix autochtones. À Okotoks, les résidents de Chartwell Royal Park ont découvert l’histoire du Big Rock, transmise par le peuple Blackfoot, approfondissant ainsi leur lien avec la terre et son héritage. ⚾️ Nothing beats a day at the ballpark! Residents from Chartwell Whispering Pines in Barrie, ON, enjoyed a memorable trip to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays take on the Astros. Under perfect skies and in great company, the outing was filled with excitement, connection, and plenty of team spirit.

Oct. 1 marks National Seniors Day in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions older Canadians have made, and continue to make, in communities across the country.
Today Wescott celebrated National Seniors Day with some beautiful entertainment by Jeff Ramsey, champagne and some yummy goodies.

Today the residents of Wescott honoured National Truth and Reconciliation Day by visiting Fort Edmonton Park for their indigenous peoples experience to explore the indigenous culture & had the opportunity to attend workshops with Indigenous speakers to learn about their experience.

The resident’s of Wescott enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Prairie Gardens, where they enjoyed a train ride around the facility, farm animals & delicious pie & coffee.

In celebration of our Indigenous Port of Call this month the residents at Wescott prepared and baked traditional Bannock.
Bannock is a versatile and traditional bread with roots in Indigenous culinary traditions, originally made from local plants and later adapted by Indigenous peoples and settlers using European ingredients like flour, which was often supplied by the government during colonization.

Another warm beautiful day in Edmonton today! So what better way to celebrate it, but with a milkshake bar! We had many different flavour options such as; chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry, with delishous toppings like, strawberry, chocolate, caramel sauce & various frozen fruits and not to mention, whipped cream & chocolate chips!
What a delicious way to spend a Saturday!
