This is very beautifully expressed for both the reader and the seeker.
I often say that tarot is not a game, it is like holding a mirror up to your life. It will reflect everything equally- the light, the dark, and the things that are difficult to see, but it is reflecting YOUR life and YOUR character.
I also say that going to a tarot reader and then expecting them to know everything without telling them what you're there for is like taking your car to the mechanic's and expecting them to fix it without telling them what's wrong with it. The more info you give, the better results you can expect. It's not cheating or making it easy for the reader, it's ensuring you get the best possible reading with accurate, insightful information. Invest in yourself and respect your tarot reader by sharing your concerns and reasons for wanting a reading! Even if there isn't a single concern or question and you just want to connect with Spirit or the Divine, that is entirely ok to tell them!!

A few things Iโve learned about readings over the yearsโฆ
A reading itself is truly a gift. Yes, there are people out there who are scammy, but a true reading from someone with good intentions is not a run-of-the-mill experience. They truly can be magickal. The act of receiving a reading is already a connection to Spirit, an opening to your higher self and your guides. It is recognition of magick in the world and in you.
Readings must be valued in order to truly be of service. Those approaching a reading with the expectation that the reading will fix everything will be disappointed. Readings are meant to be embraced, explored, mulled over, acted upon. They are not pills you take and expect it to do all the work.
Testing a reader to see how psychic they are is disrespectful and taints the reading. There are many manifestations of psychic ability, which do not always look like knowing your grandmaโs name or what you ate for breakfast. Discernment with a reader and reading is wise. Expecting your reader to do a psychic performance for you is not.
Readings truly give us what we need, which may not necessarily be what we want. They can show us the way that our higher selves knows is best, not necessarily what the ego thinks is best. Surrender and an open-mind are key to a truly helpful reading.
Mystery is an ever-present part of life. No matter the method, be it tarot or scrying or tea leaves, we will never know all. A balance of embracing the mystery while seeking guidance yields beautiful results. Assuming readings have all the answers and can help you micromanage life does not.
The spiritual path is a path of integrity, accountability, and congruence. If you want to dance with Spirit, you cannot show up wearing a bib and asking to be spoon fed. This path will, if embraced, humble you, crack you open to more love and wonder than you thought possible, truly show you where you are a wonder and where you are the master of your misery, and guide you to live a good life. From my experience, when we show up with bravery, humility, humour, and integrity, this is a most wonderful path.
Just a few thoughts, my loves. Happy readings, and blessed be! โจโจโจ
