Thanks for having us Easter Seals Alberta! We had a blast being back at Camp Horizon! 🏞️

The AAC Camp Alberta rolled out the red carpet for their 10th annual summer camp! 🏕️🌟 This year’s theme was a 10th Anniversary Red Carpet Gala, and campers truly shined like stars. 🎬✨

Throughout the weekend, they dove into arts & crafts, soared through the high ropes and zipline, tested their aim in archery, and took part in tons of other exciting camp activities!

It was a weekend full of adventure, laughter, connection, and celebration💫👏

AAC Camp 2024 Highlights: Art & Literacy 🎨🖌️🔡📖

AAC Camp 2025 starts TOMORROW and we could not be more excited! Here is one last post of highlights from last year’s messy play and literacy activities. Our campers are readers, spellers, artists, and creators! We can’t wait to see what they create this summer!

The Organization of Alberta Students in Speech (OASIS) is hosting a comedy night fundraiser for AAC Camp Alberta and Aphasia Camp on July 13th. All proceeds will be split between the two camps.

AAC Camp 2024 Highlights Part 4/6: Movement, Exploration, & Interaction 🏃‍♀️👩‍🦽🧠

“Through movement, children develop good thinking and communication skills as they explore and interact with their world. Movement also builds self-confidence. Children feel competent, physically and emotionally, when they use their bodies to communicate and solve problems” (“On the Move”, zerotothree.org). Movement and sensory activities are good for the body, mind, heart and soul! Some camper favourites from last summer include water play, digging for treasure in sensory bins, pool noodle sword fights, playing at the ACT Centre’s accessible playground, and exploring the great outdoors!

‼️ Please note this important CHANGE to the registration timeline for AAC Camp Alberta 2025.

📈 Due to an unexpectedly high number of early registration applications from families, and limited space at the camp, we will be closing registration for AAC Camp Alberta 2025 on April 1. This means that no further applications for camp registration will be accepted after April 1.

We will review all applications received by April 1 to determine the best fit for camp and the space available. Some additional families may be placed on a waiting list and notified if/when space becomes available.

If you have not already applied, be sure to do so before April 1st. 🗓️

📢 Mark your calendars! 🗓️ AAC Camp Alberta 2025 will be held July 4-6 (Friday 4pm through Sunday 2pm) at Easter Seals Camp Horizon, an inclusive and accessible outdoor camp 10 km south of Bragg Creek, Alberta, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. 🏞️ We are excited to return to our original venue and overnight camp format to mark the 10th anniversary of AAC Camp Alberta!

AAC Camp 2024 Highlights Part 3/6: Fun for the Whole Family 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦❤️👨‍👧‍👦

AAC Camp Alberta has a little something for everyone – Campers, parents, caregivers, and siblings too! Parents and caregivers have the opportunity to participate in sessions presented by volunteer professionals, AAC users, and other parents! We also have a range of activities for siblings which includes both camp activities and fun hands-on learning opportunities. Camp is a great place for families to gather to learn with (and learn from) each other!
