06/19/2024

Diabetic neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that can occur in people with diabetes. High blood sugar levels over time can injure nerves throughout the body, most commonly in the legs and feet.

Why is it Important to Test for Diabetic Neuropathy?

Loss of protective sensation in the feet is a common symptom of diabetic neuropathy. This means you may not feel pain, heat, or cold as acutely as you should, increasing the risk of injury and complications.

Ask Your Doctor for a Diabetic Neuropathy Test:

If you have diabetes, it's crucial to ask your doctor to test you for diabetic neuropathy. Early detection and management can help prevent further nerve damage and reduce the risk of complications.

Simple Foot Care Tips 🦶
Your feet do so much for you—it's time to give them the care they deserve! Here are a few simple tips to keep your feet healthy and happy:

1️⃣ Daily Foot Inspections: Take a few moments every day to check your feet for cuts, blisters, or other irregularities. Early detection is key to preventing complications.

2️⃣ Proper Shoe Fitting: Make sure your shoes fit well. They should be comfortable with enough space for your toes to move. Ill-fitting shoes can cause blisters and other issues.

3️⃣ Moisturize, But Not Between Toes: Regularly moisturize your feet to prevent dryness and cracking. However, avoid moisturizing between the toes to prevent fungal infections.

Your feet deserve the best care. Here are a few tips to keep them healthy and happy!

Why we do what we do. #saveyeglegs

Have you ever sat in an Emergency Waiting Room for hours and despised the long wait time? Do you or a loved one or your patients suffer from diabetes or its tragic complications such as a lower limb amputation?

Hi, I’m Kathleen Cesarin. Wife, mother, nurse, CEO of Accelerated Cast Clinic & Limb Preservation Centre Ltd. In my 12 years of specialized nursing in Emergency Rooms, Orthopedic Clinics and in Wound Care, I was constantly frustrated and saddened watching non-urgent patients sit for hours in an ER because they had no where else to go. I’ve been personally inspired by many patients and my diabetic family members who have experienced the devastation of an amputation and tragically, even death.

My passion is to be part of the solution.
