Dr Debra Konyk

Dr Debra Konyk Registered Clinical Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta. I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist with experience in both hospital and private practice settings.

I believe a holistic approach to client care is important to promote well-being. I consider physical, mental, developmental, behavioural, interpersonal, social, and spiritual factors to understand your needs, to personalize techniques/coping strategies, and to promote personal growth and healing. I work to develop an accepting and understanding environment to help you to become more aware of attitudes, thoughts, and beliefs that are negatively affecting your mood, behaviours, and physiology. I work from a client centered approach to create a trusting, comfortable, and safe environment to help you to share your concerns and participate in therapy. I draw from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Humanistic/Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Systemic/Structural Therapy. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. My expertise focuses on anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, and work-related stress. I have a special interest in marital issues and child/adolescent emotional/behavioural problems. I value a team approach to your care (collaborating with psychiatrists and family physicians). As we watch our Edmonton Oilers battle for hockey's ultimate prize, we're witnessing more than just physical skill, we're seeing mental toughness in action.
Every championship team knows that the difference between good and GREAT happens in the mind:

> Staying composed under playoff pressure
> Bouncing back after a tough loss
> Maintaining focus through fatigue
> Believing when the odds are against you

Whether you're chasing a Stanley Cup, training for your next marathon, or pushing toward any athletic goal, your mental game is your secret weapon.

As someone who's crossed marathon finish lines and faced the wall at the Death Race, I understand that championships aren't just won with talent. They're won with mental resilience, unwavering focus, and the ability to perform when it matters most.

Ready to develop your championship mindset?
🧠💪 I'm excited to announce that I'm now offering specialized Sports Psychology services to help athletes at all levels unlock their full potential.
