It's Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month!

Despite affecting up to 13% of women of reproductive age, PCOS remains widely misunderstood. New research from Alberta Women's Health Foundation and Dr. Donna Vine reveals just how many women suffer in silence, battling delayed diagnoses, untreated symptoms, and overlooked mental health needs.

It's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

This is a time to support and educate about this challenging illness. Known as the 'silent killer,' ovarian cancer's symptoms often mimic other conditions, leading to late detection. Understanding symptoms and risk factors is crucial for early diagnosis and better outcomes.

Let's come together to advocate for improved care, advance research efforts, and make a meaningful impact this September and beyond. 🤍

Together, let's raise awareness, nurture compassion, and shine a spotlight on the incredible strength of the NICU community.

The legacy of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation is a reflection of the unity within our community. 💙

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’ve driven innovation, expanded access, and improved care for communities across Alberta. Together, we’ve written a powerful new chapter in our province’s healthcare history.

Our 2024/2025 Annual Report highlights the true impact of that generosity. It demonstrates what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared commitment to advancing healthcare. This year’s progress is a direct result of that support. ✨

On National Nonprofit Day, we ask you to make a difference. ✨

Every day, women face health challenges that require expert care from high-risk pregnancies to gynecological cancers. Our hospital delivers that care, but only because donors like you make it possible.

July is Bereaved Parents Awareness Month. 💜

At our hospital, we recognize that the loss of a child leaves a lasting impact. For every parent carrying invisible grief, we want you to know: you are seen, you are supported, and you are never alone. Our Perinatal Bereavement Program offers compassionate, specialized care to families navigating this unimaginable loss. This includes:

➡️ Inpatient support at the time of loss
➡️ Virtual and telephone one-on-one support
➡️ Coordination of the Hospital Burial Program

We are here to ensure no family walks this journey alone. This month, and always, we hold space for your grief, your love, and the life that was.

For the first time, our hospital now has its own Electrocardiograph (ECG) machine! This a critical tool for diagnosing heart health, especially in women whose symptoms are often less recognized and harder to detect. 🫀

Until now, staff had to borrow this life-saving equipment from other departments. But thanks to generous community donations (and a remarkable $24,500+ donation from the Sandra Schmirler Foundation) patients at our hospital will now face fewer delays in diagnostics, and receive the timely, dedicated care they deserve.✨
