Candy cane lane residents have had road closures enforced for the last 3 years. The 1st year without notice, causing people to get stuck in their front street unable to leave their homes from 4:30 to 11:30pm or return home. During this busy and inconvenient almost 4 weeks, people throw beer cans, garbage, tim cups, p*e in the alley against our fence and break and vandalize property. Despite all of that, we have participated happily, spending time and money for set up every season for 29 years! This year after speaking to the candy cane lane president after last christmas he indicated that an over whelming number of residents were in favour of the closures...apparently 29 people responded to a survey and 19 didn't mind the closures...what about the rest of us? How is this represtitive of the neighborhood? Why closures in the 1st place? Who does this serve? Certainly not the residents! This year, we were again informed by letter of the rules to this "VOLUNTARY PROGRAM". Enough is enough!! This entitled, I'll informed, myopic snot nose, who had the audacity to send this post card without a return address is indicative of the lack of understanding of how the residents are affected by these closures!
I am gonna ride this pony every season until these closures stop! The lane has worked for 60 plus years without closures...why do we have to have them?
Our regular display will stay in storage until they stop ramming this down the throats of residents! Our suggestions last year were completely ignored! We suggested opening night be a road closure nights, not 3 Saturdays in a row! Apparently, they do whatever they want regardless of any opposition. STOP ROAD CLOSURES!!!😡😡😡😡😡
