This month's blog is written by Kate Stashko- Physiotherapist and professional dancer! Physiotherapy is an important tool for dancers when recovering from injuries such as sprains, joint dislocations, and patello-femoral pain. However, Physiotherapy isn't just for post-injury concerns. Like other athletes interested in Sport Performance Physiotherapy, dancers can learn about inefficient movement patterns, discrepancies in range of motion and strength, or postural habits that could be impacting their performance with the help of a Physiotherapist. It's also a great way to prevent injuries due to imbalances and over training.

Dancers- book your next assessment with Kate and experience the difference of Physiotherapy for Dancers, by Dancers!

Diastasis Recti: What is it and How Physiotherapy Can Help

This month on the blog we're talking about diastasis recti, how it's assessed, and how it's treated. In this post we'll talk about a couple of these highlights:
What is Diastasis Recti? Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) is the separation of the two halves of the re**us abdominis muscle along the linea alba—a connective tissue band down the middle of your abdomen. This separation happens when the tissue stretches and thins, often due to increased intra-abdominal pressure.

How Does Physiotherapy Help?
Before pregnancy:
▶Build a strong, well-coordinated core through targeted exercise.
During pregnancy:
▶Tailored exercise programs for each trimester.
▶Guidance on ergonomics, posture, breathing strategies, and load management.
After pregnancy:
▶A custom rehabilitation plan based on your assessment.
▶Education on safe lifting, posture, and daily movement strategies.
▶Guidance on the use of supports like abdominal binders or kinesiology tape.
▶Setting realistic expectations for healing timelines.
▶Progressive return to sport and physical activity.

If you're interested in treatment for diastasis recti, book your Pelvic Health Assessment today! Book online through our website or call 780-424-4804!

If you have recently suffered from a concussion, the initial period following the injury can be filled with discomfort, worry, and a whole list of questions. Our aim with this month’s blog is to address some of the most commonly encountered questions we receive from concussion clients, with the understanding that concussion can be highly variable and each person is likely to have a unique recovery. Some of the questions addressed in this blog are:
1. Could I still have a concussion if I didn't hit my head?
2. How long will it take for me to recover?
3. Is this normal...?

Find the answers to these and more in this month's blog titled Concussion FAQ with Ashley Cripps! Visit our website at https://coronaphysio.com/blog to learn more.
