Family History Hound

Family History Hound https://familyhisthound.carrd.co/ After interviewing my great-grandmother; I put the answers she gave in a cardboard box that I kept for 30 years.

Then 17 years ago I decided; I can do this, I have the time, that's when this journey started. Through family history I discovered numerous cousins, I've learned who my ancestors were and in some cases why they did the things they did. In the process I discovered a passion for genetic genealogy and although I'm not an expert I think my deep dive into the subject may help others with their quest. I have a passion for genealogy and genetic genealogy and also for sharing. My news blog is Why Do People Do Genealogy?

Are We Puzzle Makers, Storytellers, or Detectives in Disguise? To me, genealogy isn’t just a hobby. People often assume genealogy is about names, dates, and charts. But anyone who has … Continue Reading →

Did you watch Finding Your Roots last night? I always love it when the guests are so excited about what has been found. I especially liked the fact that Darren Criss's ancestor traveled by Greyhound from Alberta, Canada. https://www.pbs.org/video/american-dreams-ntw77v/
I hope you can watch through this link if you haven't already. If not check PBS

I'm stepping into 2026 in a big way. This is just a bit of fun with AI. If you'd like to try this.. I used ChatGPT and the following prompt. Just change the name and see what you get.
Use my photo as an identity reference. My face must be photorealistic and identical to the original image. Do not reinterpret, stylize, beautify, smooth, age, de-age, or alter my facial structure, expression, proportions, skin texture, or facial features in any way. Treat my face as a locked photographic element. Only modify my body, pose, background, and environment.” Use the uploaded photo as the identity reference. Keep my face, hair, skin tone, and outfit accurate. Create a hyper realistic 3D scene where I am breaking out of a Facebook mobile timeline feet first. Rebuild the Facebook interface from scratch. Include the Facebook logo at the top, the profile picture, username is "Ellen Thompso-Jennings Leaving 2025” post frame, reactions row, and the Like Comment Share bar. Include the bottom Facebook navigation icons. Place me inside the post image area, then reposition my body so it looks like I am climbing out of the phone and stepping forward out of the timeline. Make one foot extend toward the viewer in full 3D. Add glass shards or pixel fragments around the point where I break through. Lighting should match my original photo. Keep the final image bold and cinematic. At the bottom it should say “Stepping into 2026”

As you sort through your photos, do you have the makings of a coloring book? I don't have any small grandchildren, but if you do, here's an idea. Take a bunch of their photos and individually load them into ChatGPT. As you upload them, add the prompt: "Take this photo and make it into a coloring book page." If you want, you can add to the prompt, "make it more cartoon-like".

Now take those photos and pages, and if you use FOREVER, one of the templates called "The Big Picture". With Big Picture you can add the photos page by page. The little dot is above pixels but you don't have to worry this won't print and it's ok to print. I've shown some examples. You will need to create something for the cover and first page.
If you need help, let me know. I'd love to help you.

Christmas past came to visit me yesterday. I digitized and organized these. I especially love the first one of my Mom and her sister, Edna.
My cousin suggested, after seeing these, that we all post photos of our get-togethers in December, and I agree. Let's fill FB with celebrations and tag with hashtag
