It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of retiree Captain Blaine Stevenson, a cherished member of our Edmonton Fire Rescue Services family.

Captain Stevenson dedicated 20 years of service to the people of Edmonton, beginning his career in 1997 working in dispatch and retiring in 2017 working in Fire Prevention.

Blaine will be deeply missed by so many — his family, colleagues, friends, and all who knew him.

In accordance with Blaine’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. If you are able, please take a brief moment to think of Blaine, whether in quiet reflection or in sharing a kind thought of him.

The final preparations for the 25th Annual Edmonton Fallen Firefighters Memorial are taking place today. Big thanks to the 1 Platoon crew of P6 for helping out with the cleaning of the plaza 👏

A few reminders for tomorrow:

The weather forecast is looking sunny and hot. Please remember to hydrate, especially if you are attending as uniformed member in the parade.

Seating is available for the invited family of those members who are to be honoured. The public are welcome to attend, but we ask that you stand and respectfully let family members take their seats.

For all those unable to attend in-person Thursday, there will be a LIVE video stream of the event on our YouTube channel (link in profile) followed by a posted video after the event for those unable to attend either in-person or online.
