On September 30th, Canada observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day to honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, and to remember the children who never returned home.
The day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day, a powerful symbol of the stripping away of culture and freedom from Indigenous children. Wearing an orange shirt is a way to show solidarity and a reminder that Every Child Matters.
At Nurse Next Door, we are committed to providing compassionate care that is rooted in respect and understanding. We recognize the profound and lasting impact of the residential school system on Indigenous Elders and communities. We are dedicated to ongoing learning and action to build a more just and compassionate future for all.
We encourage you to take time to reflect, learn, and listen. Reconciliation is a shared responsibility, and every act of education and empathy helps.
