Alberta will experience a partial solar eclipse on April 8th. ☀

In a partial solar eclipse, the Moon partially covers the Sun, but doesn't completely block it. A portion of the Sun remains visible as a bright crescent or as a partially obscured disk. A partial eclipse DOES NOT mean that you don't need full protection.

Here’s how to watch safely:
1. Use approved solar eclipse glasses or viewers.
2. Create a pinhole projector to indirectly view the eclipse.
3. Watch a live stream online.

Eye See, Eye Learn provides comprehensive eye exams for kindergarten students, completely covered by Alberta Health. If needed, your child will also receive a pair of glasses FREE of charge!👀📚
Who is eligible?
Kindergarten students are eligible to participate in the program from August until they begin Grade 1.
Does it have to be my child’s first pair of glasses?
It does not have to be the child’s first pair of glasses.
What does my child get?
Your child will receive a comprehensive eye exam, which is covered by Alberta Health Care.
If your child is of kindergarten age, they will also receive a free pair of eyeglasses, as prescribed by your optometrist. The glasses are covered by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Bring your kindergarten kid into an Eye See…Eye Learn™ clinic to receive a comprehensive eye exam. Risk Factors of AMD Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Risk factors for AMD:
➡ Smoking, UV exposure, a diet high in saturated fat
➡ High blood pressure
➡ Arteriosclerosis
➡ Family history of AMD
➡ Age 55+

Early detection and treatment can help slow the progression of AMD, so regular eye exams are critical.
