Benefits of yoga and Y.O.T.A.'s approach: People chose to do yoga for various reasons: as a form of active therapy, to become more flexible, to help manage pain, as a stress relief, to gain more strength physically and/or mentally, to improve immune system function, to become more connected with the body, to gain more breath awareness, to help the body be in a calm state, for spiritual reasons, to improve one’s balance, to gain more focus, to be more present and/or aware, to improve concentration or to simply chill. These examples are merely a select few, as a yoga journey is very much a personal journey and will vary from student to student. This is something Y.O.T.A. not only recognizes but greatly respects. We are here to help and assist you invest in yourself achieving the goals you see fit for yourself. We will never impose anything upon you that you do not want to do, ok perhaps with the exception of being quiet during class. Adjustments in postures: Adjustments can be made during class to help the body be better aligned in a posture and/or to help a student deepen into a posture. There will be tokens left at the sign-in desk that students can take to put near their mat if they welcome adjustments during their class. Please make sure to check in the teacher first if you have any injuries or pain you are dealing with. Modifications: If you feel the need to modify a posture due to injury or because of the way your bones are aligned, please feel comfortable to do so. There should never be unwanted pain felt in these classes and if you need help modifying in a posture please flag the teacher down and we will come assist you and find a posture that better suits your needs and body.
