Count your breaths using your fingers and your toes. Don't move them, but think of them individually on each in-breath, starting with your left thumb, index finger, middle, ring and baby fingers... then down to your big toe to your baby toe, same side. Then the opposite side, toes back up to your thumb.
That's 20 breaths... times five rounds is 100... plus 8 makes it 108. Sacred number.
If you're lying down, there's not much chance you'll be awake much after 20 let alone 108. If you are, you've meditated with a breath practice for 20 minutes and won't be at all stressed about not sleeping.
I cured my life long insomnia with this and teach it to my students. I'll use it now to go to sleep, though my brain is a bit fired uo from writing this.
