Our true lives begin the day we start to follow our inner voice. The one that stands alone. Not the clamoring voices of the outer world. Beware being pulled mindlessly along to each milestone by the outer voices. They are loud and constant, always instructing, ever warning.

Our wisdom, the inner voice, tells us that truth is found everywhere. We don't need to abandon the guidance of the outer voices completely in favor of our inner voice. We can learn to hear and listen to each. They are separate and they run parallel in us.

This is day 5 of writing. I am 13 days into 365 Days To Pivot—in search of the person I really want to be.

Part of this 'pivot' is simply turning inward and listening more closely to the often overlooked inner voice that is always there, but gets buried under the loud and steady voices of the outer world.

When we truly focus only on our own thoughts, our own feelings, our own wisdom, instead of constantly looking outward for guidance and validation, what could we be?

The challenge for today is simple: to write and to absorb this story of the inner voice. To simply listen and let the inner voice come. To learn to hold space for both voices—the one that is only mine, then use it to be discerning among the many voices that the world insists I listen to.

Wisdom is finding the truth in them both. Each. Then balancing ourselves within them.
Pivot.

Today, I reflected deeply on the practice of pausing before reacting. This is a crucial skill in conflict. Simply navigating our own emotions. The pause, that precious space between what we feel and how we respond, is not merely an act of restraint. It is a form of self-protection and a gesture of kindness and an attempt to understand the source of that feeling. It allows us to protect our own inner peace and gives us the space to consider whether our reaction is aligned with our true intentions. In that pause, there is power—not just to respond thoughtfully, but to understand the deeper currents of what we're experiencing.

The pause takes practice. It is easy to let our impulses control us, especially in moments of frustration or confusion. But when we intentionally deepen the space between what we feel and how we respond, we begin to create a new rhythm in our lives—one that is not driven by immediate reaction but by thoughtful presence. The more we cultivate that space, the more we empower ourselves and those around us. When we pause, we give ourselves the opportunity to choose the response that reflects our truest values. In doing so, we are also teaching others the art of conscious engagement. What we choose to engage with, and how, holds great power—let us choose with intention.

January 4, 2025

I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness lately, and how it often feels elusive when I chase after it too deliberately. It’s almost as if happiness isn’t something to catch, but rather something to stumble upon when I least expect it. I realized that happiness may not reside in achieving a set goal or reaching a particular milestone. Instead, it lies in those moments when time becomes irrelevant, when I'm so absorbed in something I love that I forget about the ticking clock. It’s in these fleeting moments of passion and engagement that I feel most alive, most connected to what truly matters. I wonder if the key to happiness is not forcing it into my life, but allowing it to find me through the things I deeply care about, unburdened by any expectation of how much time I should spend getting there.

There’s also something powerful in realizing that success doesn’t have a universal deadline. I often catch myself thinking that I should be somewhere by a certain age or stage, but this is just another illusion. Not meeting the world’s definition of success, or not achieving it by someone else's timetable, doesn’t make me less worthy or deserving of happiness. I think true growth comes when I stop measuring my progress against a clock and instead focus on the journey itself. If I’m committed to what I love and to my own path, then I’m already succeeding. Success is personal, and it doesn’t always follow the rhythm others expect. It’s a reminder that happiness is a journey, not a destination, and it unfolds in its own time.

🧘‍♂️ Our inaugural Tuesday evening Hatha Yoga session was truly special! We had a wonderful mix of beginners and seasoned yogis, all coming together for 45 minutes of rejuvenating and challenging Hatha Yoga followed by 15 minutes of Kirtan and meditation. 🌟 Even our seasoned HITZone Edmonton Members Group folks felt their abs today.

I'm thrilled to introduce a new musical element, using a looper with my ukulele and vocals to weave layers of mantra music, called Kirtan, into the experience. The ambiance was just right with the moody lighting, creating a sweet atmosphere for all.

Remember, it's on the house for our amazing members. And for guests, there's a $10 drop-in fee. Join us every Tuesday at 7pm! 🙏

Awareness of Reiki has become such a part of my daily self care practice. The realization that I... we... all humans use this energy consciously or unconsciously to vaulting degrees throughout our lives has made me want to share this healing.
