October is Dwarfism awareness month! 💚

Im dedicating this month to my niece Elizabeth, she has achondroplasia and i ask everyone please search online, seek knowledge, spread awareness and educate your family, children and friends about this.
Together we can achieve a society more inclusive for everyone.

A little bit of my sister, she wrote:

My baby Elizabeth have Achondroplasia one of the most common kind of Dwarfism, was really scary at first but now that I learn about it is not that scary, is getting better, she is so sweet and amazing that fill my heart every time I look at her and I melt every time I carry her💓

When I was pregnant was the first time that I hear the word “Achondroplasia” and my first reaction was “Acho what?” I asked for the word 3 times and then if they can write it for me because I cannot even understand it, Is really scary to know that your baby have a diagnosis that you cannot even pronounced. When I heard it for first time, I cried and ask why?, all the unknowing was killing me inside but then I started to pray and to learn about Achondroplasia, I found amazing people from the Achondroplasia community and I learn that my baby girl is going to be small and have some medical complications but she is smart, strong, lovely and she will be able to do what ever she want, like other kids just in a different way and on her own time.
When I saw Elizabeth for first time I saw the most beautiful baby full of love and the first time I carried her, I was so nervous and she look at me and smiled at me like saying “mami everything is going to be okay, just relax”

My baby girl have achondroplasia and I love her with all my heart, she is so perfect in all the ways.
