"Sorry this is so long! My experience:
I wanted to share my experience finding healthcare providers who could help me with the ongoing dizzy, fuzzy feeling I had in my head.
For the last six years, I've worked as a receptionist. Back in 2022, I had a sudden "falling through the floor" sensation that lasted only a second. I wasnโt doing anything at the time, just sitting at my desk. Little did I know that moment would mark the start of a strange sensation that felt like I was living in a dream or a movie. Itโs hard to describe unless youโve experienced it yourself.
I went to a doctor and explained that I didnโt feel normalโsomething was wrong. They ordered blood tests, and everything came back fine. The doctor said, โItโs probably anxiety.โ But the only anxiety I had was from not feeling 100% like myself.
There were times when I became extremely dizzy, and it felt like the world was spinning around me. Thatโs when I discovered physiotherapists who specialized in vertigo. I went for around 10 sessions. During one of these, they used goggles with cameras to observe my eyes, which would shake, and performed the Epley maneuver on me repeatedly. While Iโd get some relief, it never felt like more than a 5/10 improvement. I began to fear the worstโmaybe a brain tumorโor I just accepted that I might never feel normal again.
Then, after another severe spell, I saw a different physiotherapist who tried "relaxation treatment." They hooked me up to muscle-stimulation machines, and Iโd feel better afterward. But a week later, the same issues returned. Later, I realized they were simply relaxing my tight muscles, offering temporary relief, but not addressing the root cause. After several appointments with little improvement, the physiotherapist asked me, "Do you think this is in your head?" After that, I never returned.
If you're still reading, thank you! I couldn't find any resources online that truly addressed my unique vertigo journey, so I decided to write about it in hopes of helping someone else who might be going through the same thing. Keep reading for the solutions that worked for me!
By the end of 2024, I had enough and was praying constantly for God to help me. I was scrolling through TikTok (yes, TikTok!) when I came across a video by Rusty Lavender, a chiropractor in Florida. Everything he said made me think, โYes, thatโs exactly me!โ This led me to learn about NUCCA chiropractors, and thankfully, I found a NUCCA clinic in my area.
I made an appointment and had a consultation. Meeting Dr. Raj Dhaliwal was a turning pointโhe genuinely listened to me, which hasnโt always been the case on this journey. Our consultation went well over the scheduled time, yet he never seemed rushed. He took the time to address all my questions and concerns and worked with me to create a treatment plan. I almost left there in tears. Just like the physiotherapist had asked me before, "Do you think itโs in your head?" Well, as it turns out, yes, it was in my headโspecifically my C1 vertebrae.
We did x-rays and measurements, and it turned out that my C1 vertebrae was out of place. We scheduled an adjustment, and since then, Iโve experienced daily improvements. Dr. Raj listened to my concerns and used his tools to diagnose the issue that had been plaguing me for years. Now, just three weeks after my first and only adjustment, my body measurements are returning to normal, and my head tilt is disappearing. Iโm genuinely happy with the progress so far!"
