On September 30, we will recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Wearing an orange shirt is one of many ways to spread awareness and support reconciliation activities.

If you're looking to purchase an orange shirt, we encourage you to check where the proceeds are going and if the seller has partnered with an Indigenous artist. Below are some recommendations:

• Official Orange Shirt Society merchandise: https://bit.ly/3ZyITuC
• Indigenous Marketing Solutions: https://bit.ly/4mAElM7
• MacEwan Bookstore: https://bit.ly/4mC0idE
• UofA Bookstore: https://bit.ly/3ZsMb2z

The goal of Orange Shirt Day is to create awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential school and to promote that Every Child Matters. 🧡

Orange Shirt Day, or Truth and Reconciliation Day, is September 30, 2025. Our shirts, hoodies, hats, pins, and apparel are designed by Indigenous artists, with proceeds going towards Naut'sa mawt Tribal Council Elders' Council.

Before his passing a few years ago, Frank ensured that his support for the Stollery would endure by leaving an estate gift to the Hospital in his Will — a final gesture of compassion that echoed his lifelong commitment to helping children and families in need.

His wife, Charlotte, began giving to the Stollery monthly in memory of Frank, but it soon became her own passion. What started as a way to honor her husband's memory quickly transformed into a mission of her own.

Last year, the Stollery Emergency responded to nearly 9,000 child and adolescent health concerns.

Adolescents like Brenna. When she faced a challenging mental health crisis, her family knew she needed immediate support. Thankfully, once referred to the Stollery, Brenna was diagnosed with ADHD, mood disorders and OCD, and she received the treatment plan she needed to thrive.

To help every youth get the care they need, when they need it, we’ve teamed up with Family of Support to add capacity, create educational resources and enhance patient care for mental health in the Stollery Emergency.

Until October 5, you can support this initiative by donating in-store and online with Safeway Canada, Sobeys, IGA West, FreshCo. and Chalo FreshCo locations in northern Alberta.

100% of your donation stays close to home, directly supporting mental health programs to help Stollery patients like Brenna in your community.

Meet Grant, assistant professor of the Department of Pediatrics and member of Samson Cree Nation – and the academic lead for Indigenous Child Health with the Women and Children's Health Research Institute and the Ispimihk Awâsisak Program. 👋

Grant Bruno has spent a decade focusing on improving the health and well-being of Indigenous children, youth and families. As a nêhiyaw (Plains Cree) scholar, he’s led research that brings together Indigenous knowledge systems, ceremony and land-based practices with Western health sciences.

In his free time, Grant is passionate about being on the land as it’s central to who he is as nêhiyaw. He enjoys hunting, medicine picking, or going for walks and sharing these experiences with his family and community.

The lemons have been counted! One cup of lemonade at a time, you helped raise an outstanding $533,664 with this year's Simply Supper Ltd.'s Lemonade Stand Day! 💜🍋

This day wouldn't be possible without the dedicated Junior Lemons Squeezers, parents and caregivers, volunteer committee, sponsors and lemonade-drinking supporters from backyards across Alberta. THANK YOU!

Proceeds from this year's Lemonade Stand Day will support patient and family-centred care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital with the purchase of bedside caregiver cots, making the Hospital experience much more comfortable for caregivers — and their kids.

This year, Junior Lemon Squeezers were encouraged to turn the day into a Lemonade PARTY. And tonight, we're celebrating them with after-party: a drive in movie, powered by Fresh Air Media hosted at the Edmonton EXPO Centre!

Heart of Gold

Adelaide loves riding her bicycle, doing gymnastics, going on scary rides at the amusement park and snuggling her cat, Yoda – all thanks to a heart transplant she received at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Born healthy, Adelaide developed breathing difficulties at three weeks old and was airlifted to the Stollery. Diagnosed with a heart condition, she went on an artificial heart at three months old that stabilized her until a donor heart was available at six months. Adelaide gets ongoing care at the Stollery and may need another transplant in the future, which is why her family is grateful to have a world-class children’s hospital right in their backyard.
