Growing up means learning a lot about ourselves β what we like, who we keep close, and how we navigate the world πβ¨ For neurodivergent adults, it also means learning how to support yourself.
Some everyday hacks look like:
π Extra comfy pants in the car for days when the ones you picked earlier that morning begin to feel uncomfortable (itchy, textures, clothing tags)
π³ Auto-pay for bills to avoid missed payments
π Sensory toolbox on hand: fidgets, ear plugs, hand fan, eye mask
π Mini pill box for little discomforts (painkillers, antacids, breath mints, throat drops)
β° Clocks set a few minutes ahead for smoother transitions (a strategy of Coach Deanna's French teacher in elementary school!)
π GPS-tagged keys and a βhomeβ spot for them (a special bowl, clothing hook etc)
And remember β none of this comes overnight! So give yourself grace for learning the ways your brain works, one day at a time. ππ«
