Spreading Fall Cheer and Building Community Through Volunteering! 🍂🎃

At Chrysalis, we’re passionate about helping individuals with disabilities achieve their goals, and that includes creating opportunities to give back through volunteering!

Recently, some of the amazing Chrysalis participants spent the day decorating the Walden Age Care Center for the fall season and getting a head start on Halloween festivities!

Volunteering not only builds confidence, relationships, and independence but also helps develop valuable social skills, fosters a sense of belonging, and strengthens connections within the community.

We’re so proud of their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm for spreading seasonal joy! Their efforts remind us how powerful inclusion and community engagement can be. ❤️

🧡 Honouring Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

This week, Chrysalis came together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Staff and people in service proudly wore orange to show support for residential school survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities.

The day was filled with meaningful experiences. We were honoured to welcome guest drummers, participate in a smudging ceremony, and even explore creativity through dot painting. These moments reminded us of the importance of listening, learning, and reflecting together. 🧡

In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Chrysalis will be closed on Tuesday, September 30.

This day is a time to reflect, learn, and honour the survivors, their families, and the children who never came home from residential schools. We encourage everyone to take time to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful actions toward reconciliation. 🧡

A huge congratulations to the Calgary People Accessing Services on their amazing art exhibition “Change, Growth, and Opportunity” at this year’s PARK(ing) Day event with Federation of Calgary Communities!

From September 19–21, the streets of Inglewood were brightened with an inspiring installation that celebrated creativity, transformation, and the power of community.

This exhibition not only highlighted incredible artistic talent but also shared a powerful message of growth and possibility with everyone who stopped by.

What an incredible way to kick off the new season! Our Autumn Event was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of fall spirit. 🎃🍎

Everyone got in on the fun with pumpkin bowling, apple stacking, the leaf-blowing race, pumpkin painting, and autumn-themed crossword puzzles. We even tested our guessing skills with a “guess the weight of the pumpkin” challenge!

But the best part? Seeing people connect with peers, share smiles, and celebrate the start of fall together.

Here’s to a season of crisp air, colourful leaves, and new memories waiting to be made. We’re so excited for everything this autumn will bring!
