As labor progresses, the cervix, the gateway between the uterus and the birth canal undergoes an incredible transformation called dilation. Think of it like a gradual opening of a door to welcome a new life into the world! 🚪👶
During dilation, the cervix expands from a closed, tightly sealed state to 10 centimeters in diameter, allowing the baby to navigate through the birth canal. This process is facilitated by powerful uterine contractions and the body's natural hormones.
It's truly remarkable how the body prepares for the miracle of birth!
