There are three sides to every story.⠀

There’s what happened, and then each person’s perception of that situation, based on their own experience and the information that they have.⠀

It’s easy to judge when you have limited information, or when your experience in a situation wasn’t good.⠀

For months I’ve wished that others could be in my shoes for just a moment, to see the burden of what I’m carrying and how hard I’ve been fighting to make things right.⠀

It’s killed me to receive the hate comments, emails and messages that I have been for the last 8 months when not a single person who’s doing that knows what is actually happening on this side of the fence.⠀

You don’t know that it was legally recommended for me to walk away from this company and declare bankruptcy back in January, or that I went against that advice because I wanted to pay back every cent that was owed.⠀

You don’t know that that decision lead me to being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and having to file a personal consumer proposal because I maxed out everything I had to make payments to the money owing.⠀

You don’t know that I’ve applied for every loan I could possibly find (over 19 different ones) only to be denied by every single one.⠀

You don’t know that every dollar we had from the last 6+ years of having two businesses was lost in the last year because of this expansion or that we’ve been living in our overdraft.

You don’t know that my hands have been tied for months with the remaining money owed for wages being stuck in litigation, or that I have been working diligently and cooperatively with governing bodies this entire time.⠀

You don’t know that in order for money to be paid back to the people and places it was owed, that money needed to continue to come in- and so your repeated attempts to tell everyone to not support us would mean that that money would not come in, and these owed amounts would not be able to be paid.⠀

And not that it’s any of your business, but you don’t know that we’re out for the first time with tickets that were given to us and a borrowed trailer and truck, because we have nothing left.⠀

I’ve done nothing but take responsibility for the fact that this expansion was not set up properly and that it was too big, too fast. It was a gamble- and I stated that since the very beginning. I’m not a cooperation. I’m not a millionaire. I’m a regular person who had a big dream that didn’t work.⠀

And despite the fact that there are other pieces to this story, I will not comment in regards to the other people involved.⠀

It’s not my job to try and convince anyone of anything. Be angry, point the finger and blame me. It’s okay. It’s okay if I’m the villain in your story- I’ve accepted that.⠀

At the end of the day, I know the person who I am, the heart I have, and what I’ve been doing to try and make this right.

💔 We’re closing our doors…⠀

It’s taken me a while to write this, mostly because I just can’t seem to find the right words. I keep staring at a blank page hoping they will come, that they will be just right- the words that will help you understand why this decision had to be made.⠀

I started this company years ago with a vision & a mission greater than me. I wanted to change the world, to help others see through the BS of our healthcare world, & to help people get as healthy & as happy as they could.⠀

The last year has been harder than anyone could imagine. When they say it’s not easy being a small business owner... well, they’re right.⠀

I’ve been doing everything I can to try and keep the doors open, to find a new approach, a new option- anything that would allow me to keep going.⠀

But what I’ve come to realize is... I don’t want to do this anymore.⠀

As much as I wanted to make this dream a reality, I just can’t keep trying to do so at the expense of my own health. The vision of what I wanted has shifted, & I can’t be the person to carry out this service for you any longer.⠀

And so, it’s with a heavy heart that I announce that The Holistic RN & Company will be closing- at least for now. We may or may not shift our focus under the same name moving forward, but for now, our services will not be available.⠀

Our nurses will be continuing on to run their own practices independently, & I hope that you will support them directly moving forward.⠀

As for me, I plan to return to my own private coaching, & likely move into the space of mentoring nurses to run their own business, rather than continuing with this model.⠀

I want to say from the bottom of my heart how grateful I am for all of the support that you have offered to us along the way- & know how much of a difference it has made.⠀

If you are an active client of ours & currently utilizing our services, please know that ALL of your services will still be carried out until completion. Everything that has been purchased will be honoured.⠀

Do you find yourself eating the same vegetables and fruit every single week? 🙋🏼‍♀️🫠⠀

That’s okay, but here’s a reminder to swap it up sometimes!⠀

While we all have ‘favourites’ that we tend to lean towards, it can leave us in a nutrient funk where we are missing out on vital minerals and vitamins.⠀

It’s a great idea to shoot for variety in your diet- and you can do that easily by changing how you shop.⠀

Instead of buying in bulk, consider purchasing just a couple of each item. For instance, instead of buying a bag of apples, consider buying just 2-3, and do the same for things like oranges, kiwi, bananas, etc.⠀

This week we tried it ourselves, and ended up buying yummy options we normally don’t get like bok choy and peaches. 🍑🥬⠀

It’s a simple swap that can lead to big changes- and one that won’t just be supportive of more nutrients, but better gut health too.⠀

In fact, the American Gut Study recommends getting in more than 30 different types of plant foods (fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds) each week to have a stronger more diverse gut microbiome.⠀

Did you know that the average adult will try roughly 126 different diets in their lifetime? 🤯⠀

What-in-the-actual-duck? 🦆🤦🏼‍♀️⠀

This means that we’re trying on average 4-6 different ‘styles’ of eating each year, trying to achieve the results we desire to see.⠀

And do you wanna know why that number is so high? … 🧐⠀

Well I’m sure you could have guessed this, but it’s because ➡️ DIETS DON’T WORK ⬅️⠀

Because if they DID, we wouldn’t need to try more than one, right? We’d get the results we desire and be set up for life.⠀

A Body Built With Love 🏋🏼‍♀️🤍
NEW PROGRAM ALERT!

There was a time in my life roughly 11 years ago, when I was 60 pounds heavier than I am now and no matter what I did, I couldn’t lose the weight.⠀

I bounced from diet to diet, tracked every calorie and busted my butt in the gym.⠀

And still, the weight stayed put.⠀
Worse yet- the scale kept getting higher! 🤦‍♀️⠀

I thought that I was in a losing game and I’d always struggle with my health- but then, something happened.⠀

I was suddenly introduced to a whole new world that I hadn’t spent much time considering- which was that nutrition and lifestyle actually do have a direct impact on the health of our body (including our ability to lose weight).⠀

It’s not just about calories in versus calories out.⠀
I couldn’t just ‘eat less’ and ‘work out more’.⠀
➡️ I couldn’t use a temporary solution for permanent results. ⬅️⠀

I needed to understand what was negatively impacting my body, what was causing the inflammation, and what was preventing me from getting the results I desired.⠀

This realization ended up leading to a permanent weight-loss journey of 60 pounds in total.⠀

Over the past 11 years I’ve invested my time, energy and money to become a leading expert in the field of health and wellness, and if there is one thing I’ve realized- it’s that there is NO such thing as a one size fits all solution.⠀

Healthy weight-loss…⠀
➡️ it’s the thing we’re all craving, right?⠀

To feel happy in our skin?⠀
To feel comfortable in clothes (& without them)?⠀
To feel confident in our body?⠀

Guilty as charged 🙋🏼‍♀️⠀

But what if healthy weight-loss was so much simpler and easier than you thought?⠀

Whether your in the middle of the transition to menopause, suffering with intense PMS symptoms, trying to get pregnant or battling thyroid or PCOS issues- the underlying issue is the same.⠀

Your body is trying to send you a message- and you’re either not listening, or you’re looking in the wrong place. 🤦🏼‍♀️⠀

For way too long we’ve been told that symptoms are normal during certain stages or life, or that the only option for relief is a prescription- but that’s all lies.⠀

The truth is that there is always a root cause behind what is going on with your body, and all we need to do is shine a flashlight in the darkness to figure out what exactly that might be.⠀

The INNER health of your body- the metabolic state, the levels of inflammation, the way your body eliminates toxins, processes food, handles stress... it all matters significantly.⠀

And all it takes to eliminate your symptoms and radically alter the course of your health, is a willingness and a drive to FIND that root cause.⠀

Taking the time to complete testing helps you know what your body is dealing with, and how to get it back on track. It’s basically like being given a manual with step by step instructions to start seeing a difference in your health tomorrow.⠀

Without enough of these good fats, your body can struggle to produce the hormones it needs to keep everything in balance.⠀

Picture this: omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are the VIPs here.⠀

As you probably read (or will read) in my about me page, I am a holistic registered nurse who is specialized in natural health, nutrition and mental wellness- and I have an overwhelming passion for female health and happiness, specifically in the areas of body-positivity and abundant self-love.

I strongly believe that it is time for our health industry to change, and I am striving to be the bridge between holistic health and western medicine.
