Today, I pause to acknowledge the deep wounds of the past and the journey toward healing that continues. On this Truth and Reconciliation Day, I honor the stories of Indigenous peoples—the pain, the resilience, and the unbreakable strength of cultures that have endured. I listen to the truths that must be spoken, and I commit myself to the work of reconciliation, not just today but every day.

This day calls us to remember the lives lost and the generations impacted by residential schools, the displacement from ancestral lands, and the cultural erasure that sought to silence Indigenous voices. It is a day to reflect on the injustices woven into our history and the work still required to build a future of understanding, respect, and equity.

But it is also a day of hope. I celebrate the survival of Indigenous languages, traditions, and communities. We uplift the wisdom of Elders and the power of young leaders. I recognize the importance of learning from Indigenous peoples and standing with them in the continued fight for justice, sovereignty, and healing.

As we honor Truth and Reconciliation Day, let us each ask ourselves how we can be part of this journey. Let us commit to listening more deeply, learning more fully, and acting with compassion and integrity. May today be a reminder that reconciliation is not a destination, but an ongoing process that requires the efforts of us all.

Together, we can walk the path toward a more just, inclusive, and loving future.

Thursday Sept 5, 2024
Century Casino, Fort Road
1 chip runner 6:15pm to 3:15 am
1 General Manager 6:15 pm to 4:00 am

The positions are quite simple, and it would help us immensely. Please ask any friends or family members! ANY adult could volunteer to help us.

This is a MAJOR fundraising event for ETTC. The funds we get from casino enable us to rent the Hub location, purchase materials, and make events accessible to non-members. Without enough volunteers, this could really harm our financial future.

Training is provided and a meal is provided during your shift. Childcare expenses, or a portion thereof, may also be reimbursed.

Well Birthday month continues to transcend all of my imagining of what would be created at the start of my 60th year. Watsu with Julianna Bootsman melted all the stories and the suffering I have created in my mind and body over turning 60. Watsu, is a unique form of aquatic bodywork, embodying a profound ineffability that transcends mere description. Rooted in the harmonious interplay of water and touch, Watsu creates a deeply meditative and transformative experience that words often fail to capture. The weightlessness of being suspended in warm water, coupled with the rhythmic, flowing movements of Julianna, it evokes a sense of timelessness and profound relaxation. This therapeutic dance, where the giver and receiver move in concert, dissolves the boundaries of the physical self, inviting a state of pure being and connection. Considering we do not live in the U.S. or in a 3rd world country it seems crazy that this is the second time this week I have had to ask for support for Albertans needing to travel out of country to get medical treatment for the same issue. Wish ‘we’ could do better and in the meantime April is desperately trying to get to Germany before months end.
