These two ladies bring heart and soul to the team. With kindness in their hearts and smiles that brighten every room, Melissa and Zenny go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Their compassion for our clients is unmatched — they don’t just keep the space clean, they help create a home.

✨ Their laughter is truly contagious, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of chatting with them, you know just how beautiful they are — inside and out.

🎉 WE DID IT! 🎉

We are beyond proud to share that we have officially completed our Accreditation — a major milestone that reflects the hard work, dedication, and heart that every member of our team brings to this organization.

We gathered together last week celebrate this incredible achievement. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears as we reflected on the journey that brought us here today. From the countless hours of preparation to the unwavering commitment to our mission, vision and values— this was a moment of true gratitude and pride.

🎈 There was a balloon drop, cake, music and of course sparkling apple juice🍾

To our amazing staff: YOU made this happen. Your compassion, resilience, and belief in what we do are what brought us to this moment. Thank you for showing up — every single day — for those who need us most.

🌟 Hard at Work! 🌟

Today, our office was filled with laughter, lively conversation, and the sound of hard work! One of our well-known and much-loved clients rolled up his sleeves and helped us prepare gifts for the staff — cutting plastic bags, adding bows, and making sure each one was just right. 🎁🎀

There was no shortage of chatter and not a single moment of rest until the job was completely done .💪

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be apart of the EPINSS community. 💙

If there’s one thing you should know about Sonja, it’s that she never just shows up — she ARRIVES in style 💃✨
Her perfect day? A little shopping, a fresh pedicure 💅, and of course, a few "confections" (her sweet term for treats 🍭). It’s the little joys that mean the most and she reminds us all each day to celebrate them.

At Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society, we’re committed to raising awareness about depression and its impact on mental health. It's important to know that depression is a real and treatable condition, not a sign of weakness.

Here Are Some Key Facts About Depression:

🌟 Feature a Client Friday! 🌟
At Edmonton People in Need, we’re excited to shine a light on one of the kindest souls in our community. This week’s featured client is someone who always brings warmth to our space with his thoughtful conversations, kind gestures, or his hallway quizzes, (get ready to recite your ABCs if you see him coming 😉) If you’ve ever walked by the building, you may have seen him feeding the pigeons, just one more example of how he shows compassion to the world around him.
Today, we’re celebrating his amazing artwork proudly displayed in the office. As you can see, he’s pointing to his creations with pride — and we couldn’t be prouder to feature him!
We’re so grateful to have him as part of our community. 💛

✨ As part of our Recreational Therapy Program, we were honoured to welcome a talented dancer who shared not only a powerful performance but also her stories, culture, and personal journey.

Her performance brought inspiration, healing, and connection to our clients and staff. It was a truly meaningful experience that reminded us how culture and the sharing of life experiences play a vital role in wellness and recovery.

🧡 The Power of Person-Centered Care 🧡

At Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society, we believe that healing begins with being seen, heard, and valued as an individual. That’s what person-centered care is all about, meeting people where they’re at, understanding their unique needs, and supporting them in ways that bring comfort, dignity, and connection.

This beautiful moment captures one of our clients who now spends her days joyfully walking around the building with her stroller and cherished stuffed cat. Before receiving these items, she spent most of her time alone in her room. Now, she’s out and about, engaged, smiling, and connecting with others.

Something as simple as a stroller and a soft companion made a world of difference — because it was what she needed.

Every person has a story. Every detail matters. And when we listen closely, healing begins. 💛

Meet Jessica — a bright light at Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society! Her energy is absolutely contagious, and it's no surprise that every client adores her.
Jessica is always the first to jump in with new ideas and input on how to improve client care using a person centered care approach. She brings a can-do spirit and a heart full of compassion. Her passion for wound care has made her our designated wound care lead, and her skill in this area truly makes a difference every day.
But what makes Jessica truly special is her deep dedication to mental health. The way she connects with clients with warmth, respect, and genuine care shows just how much she believes in the work we do and the people we serve.
