Today marks the start of Endometriosis Awareness Month! Endometriosis contributes to infertility in women, though not everyone who has Endometriosis will be infertile. Do you know the signs and symptoms of Endo?
-Pelvic pain: The pain can range from mild to severe cramping or stabbing pain that occurs on both sides of the pelvis, in the lower back and re**al area, and even down the legs. The most severe pain is typically associated with menstruation.
-Chronic pelvic pain – typically accompanied by lower back pain or abdominal pain that is not tied to period
-Painful s*x, with either/both pe*******on and movement
-Urinary urgency, frequency, and sometimes painful voiding as with a UTI but without the presence of one
-Mittelschmerz – pain associated with ovulation
-Bodily movement pain – present during exercise, standing, or walking
Endometriosis is a complex disease but is also considered very common. It is estimated that 10-15% of women have endometriosis. If you display symptoms you can get help! Speak to your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing and stand up for yourself, if you think they go beyond what you should experience with each period say so.
